Is this the same tv?

I have the 800B. It is an epic telly.

PS. 80 & 800 are not identical. I can't recall the difference, or if it's important, but there is a difference. The motion on my 800 is crazy smooth.

AFAIK they are not the same telly. I can only comment on the one I have, and yes it's amazing :)

just compared the full spec off the panasonic site back to back lol.

The teletext is slightly better on the 800 (i didn't realise teletext still existed haha) and the speakers are better on the 800 but that's no issue as it will be running though a different amp/speakers anyway.

The smoothness will be due to the 100hz and the fact that panasonic are the daddies esp with plasma!

Fixed. They are not the same telly.

"Z80 is entry level 1080p model, Z800 is top of the range 1080p model. Lots of extras on the Z800. The Panasonic site will compare the two. Much better sound, better colours (Deep Colour), 4 HDMI, IFC, SDAHC playback...."

IFC is Intelligent Frame Creation which is what gives the 800 biblical smoothness.

yeah I see now, so the 800 has deep colour and IFC, fair play, I will stick with the 80 as it is 95% the same tv but much nicer to my wallet :)

Richer Sounds are generally grey imports aren't they? I know when I was looking at TV's, they would have the equivalent TV, but a mainland European version instead of the UK version.

If that is the case, then it makes the sum total of f**k all difference IMO. I had an 'imported' CRT for 6 years with no issues and saved a fortune on the price. It's not like there are even any tube/magnetic issues anymore is it?

Did I say that it made a difference? I merely said that they generally have grey imports. I have stuff from there. Learn to read :p

LOL at learn to read. Is it ok to comment on something you said without causing offence? I thought this was a discussion, not a pissing contest. Ego FTL :D

Panny's new models are out in April - so it will be while stock lasts everywhere I would have thought. It's a good time to grab a bargin.

yeah so the man said, he said it would be a very simmilar price too so I'll wait until then.

My ol' man just bought a pana plasma today, its the 8 series, looked very good value for 800 notes

  VW ....
Can't believe the prices ,i bought the 80 at Christmas from Dixons for £479 ,i'd look around !

Having had a 42" LCD for a couple of years & been more than happy ,i decided to go for a plasma for the bedroom ,happy with the panasonic plasma but my only 1 gripe would be ,when the tv screen is bright ,if the volume is low ,there is a very faint buzz .After looking into this online ,it's fairly common for plasma's ... so personally ,i would always buy LCD

Yeah mine buzzes on a bright screen. It's not an issue though. I only hear it late at night if the volume is off and the heating is off, and the fridge in the kitchen is off. In other words it's a non-topic. Plasmas have benefits and drawbacks but, overall they pwn for image quality - which is the point of a telly.

The buzzing is only a factor if you sit listening to a blank white screen at 03:00 ;)
