If you're going to launch everywhere then thats different lol. With any extra power you run such risks

Second hand boxes can be picked up cheap though frankly, and if you're serious about doing it it's not too hard to keep one aside worst case senario.

Driven well I can't see it being an issue

  Clio RS 172
Idea...

KTR Sport F4R Supercharger Kit inc GEN90 ECU - £3318.30+VAT (£3899.00)

KTR Sport DTH Throttle Body Kit inc GEN90 ECU - £1914.04+VAT (£2249.00)

it's possible 240hp with the charger and 200hp with itb...but if you put cams and headwork in second chance have a probably a same power or near...but for me it's really really better!!!

Why are people recommending ITBs for track and 'charged for daily driver?

I've no experience of either and not been on track yet.

You can be very very lazy with the SC...it makes A LOT of power low down compared to a standard or even throttle bodied clio.

Doesn't mean ITBs are bad on the road!

I think you are saying with head work and cams its possible to see 240BHP out of ITBs?

You will see about 215/220 with cams and some head work, to get anywhere near 240 with ITB you have to go fully forged ect.
We are currently building a 240bhp (hopefully) ITBd engine and it costs alot of money. More than a supercharged car.

because i think with the charger you have more torque...and in the road is better...but i think in track the ITB keep more motor reliability...

i think light headwork...and cams...are about a 1500 GBP...No?

About that.

But its getting from the 215/220 to the 240 mark that is even more expensive :( But im sure it will be worth it once our engine is complete.

Why the hell are people saying that charged clios are only good for road use! What the hell! I know of 2 charged track weapons and I bet they both destroy alot of quick cars on the track!

As for the comment about an ITB Clio been as quick as a scooby the answer in most cases would be yes!

My car is pretty much on par and side by side with my mates 320bhp classic impreza, so that gives you an idea of the power that can be produced with a charged Clio!

Ive seen your vids :p such a beast!!

  172 - 249bhp @ the wheels
I would hate to spend the money having TB's done and then 6months later think balls should have charged it!! in the same breath how long can a clio last with 250bhp :S

depends how good the quality of the install is for a start and the component failure of other parts is down to luck, although it 'should' not be too bad...

  RS RIP
Throttlebodies set up by someone who knows.. I love my cammed RS; so this must be even better

(gearbox/driveshafts have put me off the SC idea)

Why? never heard of anyone having a problem, not even on the turbo'd ones

SC is progressive power not one mad hit of boost

I have a bowl of porridge every morning, drive my Clio to work and back 5 days a week which equates to a 150 miles a week, Which would be best for me?
