Thing is i've already talked to mrs copper about this, and they say that all that will happen will be that mr 'taxi driver' will get an alibi off people he works with who will say'he was here all night' and theres nothing they can do to prove otherwise. Its a sods world...

The assessor got back to me today and says that the case is 'borderline' so gotta just wait and hear of the insurance tomorrow. However they dont use renault parts on cars over 3 years old, so may well get repaired

Suppose its a good thing in your case as above, but really they are tight sods and shows with people like admiral, hence UKI etc always use geniune parts, but they get them at a heavily discount rate.

At a guess they may get the geo checked to see if te subframe is ok and if is they are likely to approve it. I hope you valued it at top end when they asked you for a value... always helps if they think you are going to want top dollar for it if they total loss it.

well i valued it for 4600 which is what i paid, but i'm gonna argue for more as i've just spent 400 quid on servicing, tyres etc etc and it had a 9month waranty on it. Anything aorund the 4500 would be good though. To be honest i think the subframe is straight, wheels looked bob on, and all the shut lines were still spot on. Also dont think he would have said the case was borderline if there was a problem with chassis. Hope for the best though, could still swing either way. If the car is a write off i'm gonna buy it back and get it fixed anyway
