Jus picked up my 197 could someone explain how it locks and opens? lol

I know its stupid question but its confusing hell out me! Seems like its always open, what are the buttons on handles for are you supposed to press them to lock it or what? Does it open itself as soon as you walk up to it with key card? Jus got it home now and been trying to figure it out last 20 mins!

Get in, foot on brake or clutch and hit start.

Hit stop to 'stop' then get out and hit the wee button on the handle.

Don't forget the centre of the Renooooo badge on the boot also locks the whole car.

Assuming you have handsfree card this is!!

You will. My mates 07 plater has had 2 drivers door handles. They're s**t.

double press the button to deadlock the car - you have 5sec to make sure its locked
after that it will detect the keycard and unlock

and hassle what hassle its a bloody good system !!

Its black (love black cars!), dunno bout spec think its standard spec'd it has cruise control, cloth seats (might stick recaro's in it though), renault parrot?? (think its for handsfree??) and tinted rear windows.

Jus taken the g/f out for a spin in it now and still cant figure doors locking out lol guess i'll work it out after few days use!

Thought it was a lot slower than my 172 but bought it cos its more comfortable got sick of my 172 deafening me with the exhaust and giving me a bad back. But i've jus realised the powers right up in the high revs! love it!

It does lock when you walk away - it just doesn't deadlock by itself.

At first its exciting to know that you gotta rev it like a race car to get the power out of it, but trust me it soon gets tiresome when you have cars half as powerful catching you out cos your under 6000rpm!

If you deadlock it, if someone were to smash a window and try to open the door, it still wouldn't open when pulling the door handle. Just an added bit of security. Most cars have it these days I think.

The start button is awesome, no keys dangling from the side of the wheel and not even having to put the card in the slot = WIN. Altho, remember to pick your keys up before leaving the house! I've done it before, so used to the card just being in your pocket and walking out the front door and then wondering why it doesn't unlock when you pull the handle!

so if an onlooker sees you park up an leave the car it looks like youve just walked off and forgot to lock it. i assume the hazard dont flash when it locked automaticaly?

If you walk off and leave it, it will not lock as far as I am aware, so don't do that, lol. Always press a button, whether it's bootlid, door handle or key card. It's on a sensor to pick up when it's close to the car, not to automagically lock when you walk away. Surely it would also feel unnatural to walk away from your prized possession and not have locked it for piece of mind?

The 197 won't lock itself as you walk away!

The 200 will (with handsfree card) - makes a chime noise when your about 6-8ft away. pretty cool.

The Laguna I was given when my black Mk3 was away trying to get sorted had the hands free card. It may be different for the Clio but all I had to do was get outta the car with the card, shut the door and walk away. The horn sounded gently twice and the mirrors folded in. Car locked. Done.
