Just bought a sub...

Just bought a JL Audio 12W3v2 sub, but can anyone recommend a suitable amp for it?

Sub is 300w RMS.

I have seen this amp on ebay do you think it will be suitable?

that amp on ebay is pretty poor power wise Dave.

assuming your running at 2 Ohmes, 200W RMS isnt fantastic.

tbh, you could pick up a JBL amp that runs 700 RMS for just short of £140

pick up brand new Pioneer 7300M mono block class D amp that will do 360W Rms at 2ohm.

will power a jl all day long. only for £125

What voice coil config is the amp? AS this is needed in order to select an amp to run it to its potential.

Also what type of box is it going into?

dual 2ohm = Either, 1ohm or 4ohm overall
dual 4ohm = Either, 2ohm or 8ohm overall
dual 6ohm = Either, 3ohm or 12ohm overall

I would look for around 450w rms into your overall impedance.....

After a bit more research i think its ment to be dual 4 ohm.

i have the same one in 4 ohm but you can do it in 2 ohm to get more power out of it, where did you get it from as i am after another one?

Off a guy on ebay, he had 3 of them but have got a feeling that he sold them all.

try the jbl gto 7001 for the jl sub just make sure you set your gain correctly,the cab your looking at will give you about 1.25 cft. a sealed box will be pretty loud in such a small car even louder a ported box,you can make your own cab if you try,you can download quite alot of speaker enclosure software for free that will help you to design a very good box.then go to bq and get it all cut.hope this helps
