Just had the following done on my 1.6. What do you think is a fair price?
Cambelt changed
New water pump
Alternator belt
Rear exhaust mount
DOT 5.1 brake fluid
Antifreeze
Coilovers fitted and setup properly with the camber and tracking
thats a bargain mate I woulda charged around the £500 mark was this mates rates, did you get any gaurentee on the work done, also go back in about 2 weeks and get them to check all the nuts and bolts on your suspension are tight.
mega bargain then ,not doubting the guys work but if he done it at that price then its repo parts , and we all know how s**t they can be mainly the water pump, not to worry you mate just giving the best advice and dont worry that you haavent noticed any difference a well maintained car wont really be any different, maybe smoother idle and cooloer running temps to, did you get them to flush the rad before adding the new anti-freeze.
Reading the invoice it says:
Cambelt kit (OEM)
Waterpump (OEM)
Alternator belt (OEM Quality)
Rear exhaust mount
DOT 5.1 brake fluid
antifreeze
I didnt ask him to do the antifreeze or the brake fluid but he said they needed doing and that my brake fluid had the lowest boiling point of any car he had tested. The brakes feel different as they were a but spongey before but not much difference anywhere else. Glad i got the belts done though as he showed me the old ones which had started to crack , He advised me that the front brake discs will need doing in another couple of thousand miles. Hes always been cheap to us so cant complain. Fixed 1 one van in seconds after peugeot spent hours and couldnt find the fault.
