^ not really mate. Don't really know the difference haha. Thought it was an improvement so went for that one lol. I thought it was something to do with the viewable pixels in hd format and was 1920 instead of 1080... but like i said, not sure on the advantages?

spending £1600 and you dont really know if its the right one for you???
personally i couldnt justify spending that much on a tv but i suppose its ur money.

what are you intending to use it for?? xbox? ps3? sky+? etc etc

^^ i didnt pay anywhere near that btw lol

I basically compared tv specs for the last 3 days non stop and that one comes up trumps at almost every turn. I also love the styling on the sharp tv's. Will be using it for main PC and SKy+ in the interim, and soon to be Blue Ray and Sky HD

I was always led to believe that when you go over 42" the picture isn't as good with LCD and you should go with a plasma . Thats what they said on the gadget show anyway . I might be talking b****cks , lol :quiet:

A Full HD tv will only let you watch HD channels nothing else.

HD ready you get the best of both worlds

I am replacing my 46" Samsung plasma as the picture is crap (and it was a bloody expensive one). Trying LCD as the contrast ration on this is 2000:1 so shouldnt have any problems with blacks etc?

I dunno though mate lol, will let you know

Ah bloody hell didn't know that... well at least i'll only ever be using Sky+ anyway. So whats the benefit of Full HD then?

according to that site, Full HD means 1920x1080 HD res (1080p) as opposed to HD Ready 1024x1080 (1080i)

Doesnt say anything about not being able to watch non-HD products?

lol you're only missing out on this.

They are however selling them in Costco for just £600 now!!

The fact it has a built in freeview tuner suggests that it can display non-HD channels..

It doesn't make sense that it can't..

Definetely upgrade to Sky HD to get the full benefits on some programs, tho.

If I was going to get a new HD TV now it would be full HD. Which means it will support all factors like 720p, 1080i and 1080p. Sky HD is HD ready which is 1080i. Full HD is great for the likes of a 360 as games that are listed as 1080p will be played / transcoded at that resolution.

Having a full HD TV doesnt mean you can watch anything else on it lol

ffs you lot are dangerous with the s**te your spouting. hardly any correct info been given out so far

+1

From my experience the Sharp LCDs are normally pretty good. The fact its full HD doesnt mean to cant display SD it just means that the unit is capable of 1080p which is the proper spec for HD.

yeah i looked at sky hd and was quite dissapointed, but it an only improve over time? Im not much into sports to be honest, and apart from wildlife programs, there's not much else.

Was going to wait until the HD box wasn't £250 and then get it.

Are the PS3/360 in HD format, or is that just where the 100hz will help (not got either)?

any reason for goin full HD than just HD ready??

not alot of HD channels

Because Full HD is better. It will last longer technology wise aswell. At least until they are making 40" OLED TV's

What a complete and utter moron. Don't put information on here that just isn't true. What a stupid thing to say!

The fact that most Full HD TV's have a freeview box built in show that they can play non HD content.

Jason just leave this thread alone, you don't know what you are talking about.

It looks like a quality TV mate, go for it. I got a Sony 40" Full HD LCD and it looks amazing. Even freeview looks really good on it. I haven't got sky HD on this one as it is up in my room, got it on the Pioneer downstairs but thats normal HD i would guess it would look slightly better on a Full HD set. I do have PS3 linked up to it which blu ray looks amazing and gaming on the Elite looks impressive aswell. Both running at 1080p

Enjoy it

WWE and Premiership Games are all HD.. does me ;)

Oh, and some BBC stuff.. like Hustle is HD.

Road Wars is in HD now on Sky One.. Lost in HD too.

Ch4 HD has some good HD content now as well.

There's quite a bit ;)

My sd channels used to look shite on my hdtv until i brought some profigold scart leads and now they look pretty good.

Are people actually using decent leads with these hdtv's? You dont buy a ferrari and put asda 95 ron petrol in it so why do people buy hdtv's and use £5 scart leads?? :(

^ going to use HDMI with whatever bit of kit i get, but scarting sky+ at the moment

Daz... i don't wantch ANY of that lol

Oh no, not this again :(

If you do need SCART, *maybe* there will be some difference, but if it's just Sky HD, Xbox, PS3 etc, then stick with a £5 HDMI cable and be done with it.. ;)
