K-tec ECU remap?

  Clio 172 Cup
hey guys

I was looking at the k-tec site and noticed they do a ECU remap now. Does anyone have one of these? I was thinking of having a look into their remap as my car really struggles in the lower revs region, especially since i put my ITG maxogen, janspeed decat and magnex enxhaust on (weird i know). Im just wondering if i need a reamp to suit these new mods. If so, do you think the K-tec one will help at all, or is the ECU remap just a standard one built to suit the unmodded clio, i.e. do i need a more custom remap if i decide to go ahead and get one?

EDIT - i noticed that you can take out the ECU and have it sent to them to have it remapped. Is it easy to get the ECU out or is it a big job? I think i remember someone saying they are a real pain to get to?

Off the shelf remaps are a waste of time. Especially as you have other modifications. The reason you'll be having trouble at lower revs is basically because you'll be running lean with those mods. Depending where you are based I would either goto Yozzasport - Birmingham area, or GDI - London area iirc. They both do custom remaps, Yozzasport do so by remapping the original ECU and GDI use the SMT6. If i decide to keep my current car, and do some more peromance modifications - sports cat, induction kit and lightened fly wheel are on my lists, then I will be going to Yozzasport for them to do mine.

Don't quote me, but from previous threads, the Grp N flash is for cars that have modded air filters and exhaust. Anything more than that would benefit from a Live update on the ECU.

The Grp N Flash is (what i can gather), an off the shelf upgrade. So it'll suit most mildly modded cars.

chip wizards is the only place to go for a re-map in my opinion.

as said above the off the shelf chips are a waste of time..the smt 6 is still limited in its abilities i reckon. kinda a 1/2 assed attempt, not a full re-map, not a full standalone sytem.

2 live do chipwizards do a custom remap of the original ecu then? any idea on cost? Probably still going to go to yozzasport, but would be interested to here more about them

Birmingham is do-able. How much do Yozzasport charge for remaps? The pnlu reason i was attracted to the k-tec one is that its fairly cheap. what about the unichip? Thats a custom piggyback one isn't? Are they nay good as i can get that done in manchester which would be fab

Aye good luck getting it done before xmas. Wayne is a clever guy also has a massive waiting list. He has other commitments with motorsport too.

pay ya price, wait ya turn, get a decent map..

the most important thing in tuning.. dont get it wrong by going to someone with little experience.

£350 at yozzasport. Might be having a trip to Birmingham next month! Anyone from the north west fancy it :)

Plenty of other people are more than capable. What Wanye does is hack into the Std ECU, which i'm not in favour of...But his results more than merit this approach. £VERY tho!

Correct. I've had.

Inlets, Maxogen, decat, zorst. then a map is a sensible option. - 185bhp hopefully

Next headwork, cams and then another remap. 195Bhp hopefully

who does the remaps for yozza though? i wouldnt want anyone with little experience doing it! its the difference between fast, average, and bang.

ive had an ITG maxogen induction kit, janspeed decat and a magnex exhaust system - is it wise to have a remap now?
