K-Tec Stealth - do you need to tell insurance???

a mate of mine had an arguement with adrian flux about the mondeo v6 brakes he fitted on his zetec-s.

they wanted to know what bhp gain the brakes would give.
so he began to argue that his insurance should come down as the car was now technically safer due to its better braking ability.

the phone operator wasnt having any of it!

Surely thats obvious?
If you fit bigger brakes, you are showing you probably intend to brake later so you can go faster for longer.

Same reason why roll cages are frowned upon. They could save you some serious injury, but having one classes you as the high risk type that thinks they need one.

I have declared an aftermarket exhaust on my cup, but dont have one. Purely because I may do at some point so saves the hassle of informing them later on.

One of the insurance assessors that does quote for us on occassion has a 182. Maybe he knows what a K-tec stealth is... ;) Just sayin'.

I declared mine and said it was either £400 for a replacement Renault one that would crumble into dust after 18 months, or £300 for a stainless one that would last forever. I also said it was the only one I could find with a hidden tail pipe.

No charge.
