K800i Crashing

Anyone else had issues with this? Mine is only about 3/4 months old and recently started playing up. Screens freezing, going dim like it's going into powersaving mode despite you navigating menus at the time. The screen totally corrupting accompanied by the backlighting on the buttons flashing and the handset vibrating.

I have not had it that bad but mine goes dim and freezes. I have to remove battery. Had mine about same length of time too.

Switching it off and on doesnt always resolve it nor removing the battery. I've done both several times seems to have a mind of it's own. Has to be the worst SE phone I've owned in terms of reliability. I wouldnt mind but this one hasnt been dropped or kicked around during a drunken night out like most of the others were!

iv just updated the firmware on mine from the earliest available to the latest one. What version are you running mate? Might be worth updating it!

Mine has died on me completely. Wont even switch on so its getting thrown down the stairs and replaced on insurance. Still got 11 months to go before I can upgrade. Terrible phone IMO

It's on O2 so I'm guessing has an O2 version of some software on it but has no physical branding on the handset.

3/4 months and it will be under warrenty surely? 02 are pretty good, my k800i was knackered, half the buttons didn't work and it was battered. Sent it off Monday just gone and by 8am Wednesday i had a brand new handset on my doorstep....

Yeah, sadly thats a ancient version.

No wonder you have issues.

R1KG001 is the latest version. It is possible to reflash to this generic software, but it wipes the phone clean. This isnt really a problem as you can back up the contacts to the memstick. But its a pain.

I asked it to update and it checked and said it was the latest version :S

No memory stick so looks like i'll have to go out and buy one to transfer everything too before doing it.

The reason why it said that is because of the phones regional id code (CDA) this checks the "approved" list of firmware with the SEUS (sonyericsson update server). What usually happens is this list is never updated as new firmware is released.

So it will always tell you you have the latest version.

You can bluetooth your entire contacts file over and then use usb to transfer the pictures and what not to your pc.

Oh and if you have a mac, you can forget about all the above. Your stuffed.
