Key Reprogramming?

I only have one key for my 172 and its about time a got a spare, I've been looking on ebay for a spare and get it reprogramming to my car, but never having this done is it posable? just looking for some advice realy? Chears.

i am under the same problem with my 172 , the problem i found is i took a spare key to a key cutting shop to get reprogramed to my car but they can not do it as the immobilizer works on a rolling code, so the keys need to be programed to the specific car. as each time the key is used the code is updated.
I went to my nearest renault garage to see what they can do and , they will order me a new key and program it to my car for £90 . At least that way it is guaranteed to work. So once i get paid is where im going .

^^^^^^ sounds a bit cheap from a stealer. £140 for a new blade fob and coding to the car is what Renault charge

yeah i thort it sounded cheap as from what i could tell on here people where saying 140 ish , but its a renault garage and £90 for the new key and coded so im not complaining at all

used/ pre programmed keys cannot be reprogrammed. Its useless buying one off ebay.

i brought one of ebay and had it cut, cost me about 16quid including buying and cutting etc, but it doesn't work with the central locking, but i guess i can use it in emergencies.

gives some information on how to bypass the imobiliser and how to re sink the keys , have not tried it so not sure if it works .
