Killed my canon

Well, thats camera body one up the spout.

about 5 months, about 30,000 shutter actuation's.

Think the shutter has gone, really quite annoyed as i have an event im supposed to be shooting on the 21st.

Dropping it off at camera repair centre in Essex tomorrow.

Place your bets, will it be done in time?

Im fairly sure it wont, but they seem keen to help.

I wouldn't be that bothered if my D40 snuffed it. Just an excuse to buy a bigger and better version.

meh 5d, still want a 1.6 crop, cant afford the glass for anything less.

Wouldnt say no to a 50d, but its probably being repaired. Im dropping it off at an outfit recomended by canon in essex tomorrow.

Albeit its decided to work again now, but everytime you do a burst it dies.

here is about teh 5th from dieing shot about 30 mins ago;

Brown.

What are the scratches in the bottom right quadrant ?

cobweb possibly ?

So whats going on with it, is the buffer filling, noise reduction turned on etc?!

If the shutter was going you'd see a nice line across your images.

Did you but it from a shop? My first D50 shutter failed after 4 weeks, I took it back to London Camera Exchange and they handed me a brand new one.

what happens is this:

If i shoot a burst with camera it will do about 4 shots fine, then it will start making pretty bad shutter like noises (but not in time as it should be) , it then produces black images, and stops working, sometimes with a motorised noise remaining. Have to turn off and turn on several times before it will reset and start taking pics again.

The camera is 4 or 5 months old tops, was bought from an internet retailer who have shown no interest in replacing it on the spot. But then at the price i got it i wasnt expecting this to be honest.

I am taking it to essex tomorrow to let a techy chap look over it and give me a on the spot diagnostic, and with any luck also help speed the repair process up.

Im not certain the shutter has broken, but it seems like its playing around. Its certainly not well :dapprove:

We will see what happens.
