Knocking.......F#cking KNOCKING!

  2003 Clio 172
Righto,

When i got bonk a couple of years ago, I went about replacing all the joints etc in the front steering.

Lower ball joints, upper mounts and bearings, tre's and also did the top mount washer mod.

So, failed the MOT the other day with a duff tre.......so i replaced that (which, fair play to the MOT place, was fooked) but Christ it still knocks like a heure. You know, slow driving over the usual cobbles makes it sound like the steering is going to fall out.

What on earth......

So, looking at inner tie rods and i know they are a prick to buy and do. Assuming that everything else is alright, would they be likely candidates

Would arb bushings really cause that much noise if they haven't been changed as there isn't much else?

Am i missing anything?

I don't think the rack is suspect but you know the score, its really hard to isolate these things.

I have noted, even after replacing the tre, that there is slightly more play on the pass side wheel when i pull it left to right. There is movement on the drivers side but not the same as the passenger side.

Should there be any lateral play in the front wheels?

Track rods really aren't hard to do, I did them with one of those viscous fan spanners no problem. So may be worth doing them first. There shouldn't be any play at all really
