Knocking n/s front

Been noticing it over the last few days mainly over a combo of black/pot holes. Car has done 76k don't think the front shockers have been changed, I did the rears not too long ago after knocking and leaky shocks. My question is - are the shockers likely to go without leaking oil?

had similar issue on my 172, tracked it down to the lower ball joint .. pretty straight forward just 3 nut and bolts and a bit of a wriggle to take off and put new one one. There are two types, you need the one with 12mm holes not 10 mm.

99% sure itl be lower ball joint

I had the same symptoms on the same side.....turned out to be the strut top bearings.

Few quid from Eurocarparts and fixed!

If it isnt my lower ball joint, will i know if its shagged if i remove and look at it before buying a new one?

Had this both sides on my 1.2 and it was the track rod end on both sides

when i took mine off to "look at", it fell to a thousand pieces!!

There will be loads of play in it if its pooped.....if it is that!
