Knocking sound from drivers side front wheel

Been told it can be my cv joint, wheel bearing or top mounts. I checked my top mounts earlier and one is higher than the other, as if it's not fixed down, and when the wheel is turnt the top mount goes in angle aswell. I'm guessing it's this! Is it a case of tightening?? I am on coilys also.

Cheers!

were the wheels straight? if so sounds like possibly the assembly nut on top of the strut that holds the bearing etc in place is loose, should be able to do it I think without removing the strut just remove the top nut under the bonnet and see if you can tighten it, never tried it that way though
