Ktec coilover question

So going to give the front arches a good clean and protect and spotted these plastic parts (presume they are guards for dirt) cracked and deformed. My question is will it damage anything if I remove them as they are pretty knackered anyway?!

They are grit guards to help prevent dirt getting into the shafts which you don't want as they will start to leak oil.
