Ktec exhaust bracket - adjustment

  Cooper S JCW
Right I fitted a new rubber mount and twisted the rear section (as best I could without removing it) within the rear bracket and then tightened the collar. It is now sitting higher but the right tail is about 3-4mm lower than the left.

Has anybody adjusted their bracket on these exhausts (bent the bracket arm slightly) to correct this problem or am I better off getting it back on lift and removing + refitting?

Thanks for your help:)

loosen the clamp behind the backbox where it connects to the centre section (dont disconnect the section)

Undo the clamp that wraps around the backbox, and twist/pull the backbox until it sits straight. Do up the rear hanger clamp and check that its still sitting straight.

Then do up the clamp that attaches it to the centre section

Job done, having 2 people and a ramp helps :)

& if u dont have a 2nd person just get the renault jack and hold the exhaust up using that

they can be difficult to get it right but just keep trying with fubar's advice

Fubar - I did just that on saturday but the car was only on make shift ramps (blocks of timber and breeze blocks!!!). I had the exhaust on a trolley jack too. I couldn't get enough purchase on the rear section to remove it thoguh and then it started snowing. there was only a 1-2mm difference when I had finished but now it has settled into the new rubber mount the rotation is more pronounced.

I'll get it up on the garage lift next door on wednesday!

think mine has this problem, the exhaust has dropped slightly but its now knocking on the rear suspension bar when you go over a bad bump! doesnt sound too clever.

i replaced the rear mount this morning and it has helped it as the original had collapsed a bit, but the backbox doesnt sit flat. so is that what i need to do? just twist the section and tighten it up.. ?
