KTEC Sports Catalytic Converter...

Hey all...

Before anyone moans yes I did a search and too much stuff comes up for me to actually find what I need quickly!

Just looking for opinions on it or problems that one can possibly cause really such as emission light on, poor running, MOT problems etc??

I've read the description on the KTEC site but need the above from people who've got one/had one...

Can't speak for the Ktec one but i have an aftermarket sports cat fitted to my 182 and it's perfectly fine, no problems with emissions light and it passed it's mot no problem

IMO sports cats are not worth the money, and some wont pass emmisions (Iv seen this as we have MOT'd some at work).

De-cat or Ph1 cat

I couldnt handle the horrible drone of the decat that my car came with

so bought a new Sportcat from K-tec.

shut the car right up and hasnt seemed to affect performance at all so I was very pleased.

Car is 172cup

I think a de-cat would drive me mad with the supersport stealth so not really an option, not interested in buying a 2nd hand genuine CAT and certainly not paying Renault the ridiculous amount they want for a new one!

So Sports Cat it is and from what's been said above it will probably be from Ktec...

Lol I was considering a recessed one but thought the normal type would be easier for someone local to me to fit....oh how I was wrong!

If I knew I'd be driving down to Ktec I'd have gone recessed!

Majority of folk the dash lights will end up coming on.

Dont like the noise of a full decat? get a silenced one.

Sports cats are not worth it imo. Better to stick with the full cat for all the ''gains'' your going to see

My sports cat from ktec kept bringing the light on, at the time they promised it would t.

Evenually after 3 visits i Binned it and got my cat back.

I sometimes wish i had left mine alone, i'm sure my clio felt slower after changing the exhaust and cat ......sounds much better now though

I had a zorstec custom system built for me last year, i love the sound of it as it has a much lower rumbling sound than say the yozza system but i think it is in need of a custom remap to mate the exhaust to the engine properly, it's going in to RS Tuning soon for some tlc and the remap as it's way down on power at the moment.

Think yours needs a bit more than that.... You found out what it is yet?

K-tec sports cat is overpriced imo. My Powerflow 200 cell sports cat only cost £170 fitted...

Not yet mate though i regained some power when i changed the Lambda sensor as the front one was white with silicon contamination, Paul at RS Tuning is back from holiday next week so i'm hopefully going to get it in with him in the next couple of weeks for some tests.
have a look at this youtube vid a mate of mine took last week when we were at york, it shows how much of a difference the power makes, Matt in his RB 182 with a de cat yozza ran 1 second quicker over the quarter and 0.4 quicker over the eighth mile. go to 2minutes 30 seconds in

Yeah but i'm thinking i should have taken out the huge bass box before i went :dapprove:.........i worked out that with me and the bass box there was an extra 35 kilos in my car compared to matt's

It'll be interesting to get it back there after it's all sorted and mapped and see what difference it makes actually running at around the 182 bhp mark!.....never thought it would be so hard to just get the claimed bhp for the car
