Ktec uprated engine mounts review

  172
When I joined i allways wanted a review for the group n style mounts but i took the plunge in a gb and got them.

There is alot more vibration at idle when cold at about 1.5k even at 1k idle it shakes slightly. You will want to clear the change tray. They will probably soften up with more use. If anyone wants I can get videos up. Its not annoyingly bad. Unless you do alot of stop and start in low gears in traffic and what not.

The whole car feels so "tight". When i put my foot down at 30 in 4th it doesn't feel the engine lunges forward and i follow. Now i go instantly foward. The car doesn't feel like its on a leesh anymore. It feels like its part of the car now. The handling is so much better. The car now is surefooted, it knows where its going. I point it and it goes.

The acceleration is so much better or it feels it. The car doesn't lose any power with it rocking around its straight down to the wheels. Gearbox also feels more precise. The car engine brakes better and just feels more secure. I can't tell you how much this improved my car.

I hope this helps anyone who wants to buy the engine mounts but isn't sure.

All i've been doing on my last lot of night shift's is reading this place, full of good info :)

And i read a post somewhere, about someone ordering some engine mounts from France (as u could only get these certain cup ones via renault france or something) and after reading your post, it's got me thinking more on the subject :)

did u fit them yourself? it sounds like a sort of job i defiantly wont be doing myself.

Now off to Zzzz shift ended.

i like them

just to add a slightly different perspective, i renewed all of the mounts and fitted the poly dogbone bushes at 40k, which made a bigger improvement than replacing the two mounts for the Vibratechnics ones, 20k later

vibration/noise isn't half bad imo, esp. when you consider how stiff the engine mount (in particular) is. it's solid now and is a further improvement, but there's still shunt in mine (it must be the drivetrain itself)

i've noticed that the clutch is more immediate now as well

personally, think they're a good idea if your OE mounts are past it, and/or you particularly don't like the OE

Glos no I got a garage to do it. Don't think it was too hard though. might be a guide on here.

Henry yeah your right it feels more racing but it feels so much better.

Davo172 Interesting? any clues or should we just wait?

Cars done 44k, erm sorry if this sounds really n00b, (still am) how would i know if my mounts are past it? I mean i know i got vibration, but thought this was just normal. Would i have issues putting it into certain gears?

But by the sounds of it, ill just get my local renault specialist to do it, do you know roughly how many hours labour i should be charging, so i know if they ripping me off or not?

Cheers

Interesting read, I've been considering the uprated engine mounts, although I've read it's ideal to replace all 4 because if you don't you can put more stress on the OEM mounts. How many mounts did you replace?

Agree with the vibration, couldnt believe it at first when I started it up, thought my interior would fall apart lol. It settled a while later and they are so much better.

had mine on for...a month? Then binned them! Rubbish imo! Shook the car to death! Bought a new set of reno ones and it was 10x better!
