Lacquer help

I have filled a dent in the side of my door sill, I applied the lacquer after leaving it in warm water and then shaking for 2 minutes, I decreased the surface and the lacquer has turned milky, doing my head in, it looks bobbly too but it's dead smooth, help?! View attachment 132948

did you start with plastic primer, base coat and then lacquer??? primer is very important and the wrong type can cause reactions, can't really tell much from that photo but you may have put it on too thick too quickly, you need to dust coat it lightly and wait 10 mins for it to be almost touch dry, then go for an even heavier coat, plus lacquer should be done within 30 mins of base coat, unless you lightly scratch it with say 1500 to 2000 grit to help it adhere

Did you lacquer it outside ? Could be moisture in the lacquer .

Nah normal primer, I did light dust coats then a thick coat. It's not moisture in the air because usually with heat it'll disappear or over time of drying but it doesn't disappear at all! It's all dried up now and it's white, I shall lightly sand it back tomorrow and re-lacquer it.

I meant moisture trapped under the lacquer, on the colour coat , that won't disappear with heat .

Possibly yes, how could I of avoided that? Hair dryer on the actual surface before lacquer?
I don't see any harm in trying a hair dryer for a few seconds on a warm setting , just to evaporate any surface moisture that might be there . It can't really turn out any worse than your first attempt . It's worth a try imo .

I'll give that a go! I've done spraying before and it just shocked me when it came up like this, suppose I've been lucky before! Thanks

don't heat it up first, when baking the paint its done at the end not before, the paint could crack and dry funny and stay soft underneath as the solvent hasn't had time to evaporate before the outside cures. if the laquer is white your gonna need to throw a coat of base coat over the top, applying more lacquer won't hide anything as its transparent. flat the whole thing down smooth with 600s, then a quick blast of 800s (WET), dust the black on, wait about 2 mins, then one slightly heavy coat, leave it 30 mins, dust some lacquer, leave it 5 mins, then two heavy coats of lacquer waiting 20 mins between. make sure theres no wind and that it isn't in direct sun light.

I've sprayed my dash bit 2 nights ago but the rattle can makes all the difference, i paid 12 quid a bottle for 400 mil, comes out like a spray gun and the lacquer nozzle has a control for spray width, expensive but amazing, once I've finished doing my spare bumper and wings ill put a post up showing how it can be done, might help some of you.
