Laptop problem

  ex Clio 172 owner :(
I've been given a Packard Bell Easynote R1938 laptop to see if I can fix.

Upon switching on, I get a grey boot image saying Packard Bell with press F2 to Bios and F8 for boot options.

Then nothing happens, it won't post or boot.

I press F2 and F8 nothing happens.

Inserting a recovery disc or XP disc, it spins but nothing happens.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Doesn't sound like HDD to me, surely an error message would appear about not being able to boot from the hard drive or not seeing it. I'd say a BIOS problem at a guess.

Does'nt always display an error message. This exact problem happened to my old Tiny laptop, no error message, didnt know what was up. I took the hard drive out and put it in my Packard bell laptop, and got an error message right away ( corrupt HAL DLL.32 file or something ). The hard drive was fooked.
