leaking water from roof ph2 mk 2

  Golf TDI
hi my 2003 reg dynamique is leaking as after heavy rain im finding in the morning a puddle on the drivers seat  and a wet patch on the roof lining by the sun visor ?! im thinking this could be the sunroof ? any ideas ? and if it was to be the sunroof would any old garage be able to sort the seal out or do i have to go to a specialist garage ?

I assume any garage would be able to fix a leaking sunroof. I know some people on the Mk1's sealed theirs shut with silicon.

its no good to me sealed shut when the summer comes ha ha next car to have air con ( no sunroof ) FTW :) my gf's mum had a leaky roof with her renualt before she got rid . she said not to bother going to renault cos they were crap when she tried getting hers sorted .

Aye most stealers aint so good, if your local one is n Arnold Clark I'd avoid like the plague, just take it to a local garage near you, should be able to sort you out.

i take it tthat involves taking everything apart again :( the roof liner has all itchy stuff in it ! would buying silicone sealant from halfords and sealing the glass to the rubber seal solve it ?

you dont need to take it apart, open the sunroof, clean the glass and where the seal touches the glass,a lot of grit gets in there and stops it sealing properly, did it to mine and its sorted

Don't know if you've fixed the problem yet? But i had the same problem and found out it wasn't the sunroof but it was the ariel that the water was coming in from. Take out the interior lights (puddles of water came out mine) and check around the inside bit where the ariel comes in. If wet then thats your problem. To fix it just loosen and take off the ariel and put silicon around the inside and outside bits of the ariel and tighten it back up. This fixed my problem. Hope that helps!

i think i have found my problem... as it rained alot last night i got to the car this morning to find all my seat covered in water (not happy) so anyway i look up and hapen to play with the screws that hold the glass sunroof to the brackets that slide in the car. and they are loose and water was coming in when i moved them...

so does anyone know how to tighten then as when you turn them the round bit on the top turns :S

hiya mate, i've just cured my leaking clio, I was getting out the car with a wet ass a lot.

Take your sunroof off, remove the strip surrounding it from in side, and get some bathroom title sealer and fill along the side of the run roof runners,

There is two drain holes in the sunroof bits, that lead only to the interior of the car, (for some reason, renault decided to drain the rain water on to the driver).

No wonder you cars leaking water. The 2 drains on the sunroof frame are connected to pipes that run up the A pillars, and drain at the bottom of the car. Make sure the pipes are clear (blow compressed air down them if you can) and pushed on firmly.

i think on some cars there is to pipes if you like either side that let the water run away try cleaing them out if they are there that is
