LED Reverse Light.

Me again.

My reverse light at the moment is crap. Really crap. I can't actually see anything unless I press the brake.

So, I'd like to swap it out for LED, so I've been looking around on eBay.

Someone on the forum recommended this:

But I thought it looked rather tame compared to the others I'd been looking at:

I'm tempted by the second one as it boasts a much higher wattage, but has anyone had these and found them to be crap?

In short, I'd like the brightest bulb possible, so suggestions welcome.

Hi Cullum,
When I was road rallying mine, I had the same problem. I fitted a pair of the small "cruise" rectangular driving lights under the bumper. 2 x 55 watt halogens gives all the light you need!

I was tempted to add extra lights under the bumper

However I still want it to look OEM when I'm not reversing :approve:

Does the lamp actually work ?!

Have you thought of just swapping it for a new 'regular' lamp and seeing if that makes any difference ?

Are your lights standard ?!

Well I have no idea at all. My reverse lights has gone if you fancy a play with mine and maybe try and sort it you are welcome too !

I'll quote Tigger here.

Put your wipers on, select reverse gear
Does your rear wiper come on?

If not, your reverse sensor on the gearbox needs replaced.
It's located behind the n/s driveshaft on the side of the box

Those bulbs in the OP are EPIC. Everyone's been impressed when I've shown them, they really do help when reversing.

What are they like in daylight though? Any photos?

I'm working on it. Not got a laptop handy so having to do everything through my iPhone. And you can't Dropbox app-generated links any more.

Don't have any pics in daylight, but there's no problem with visibility to other road users.
