Let down by Renault dealer again!!!!

My Cup went in yesterday to Kettering Renault to have the engine mount mod and get rid of that horrible noise (present under load in first and second). Thought while it was in Id get 2 new front tyres put on.

Had a phone call at 3.30pm to say it had been carried out but it also needs a front suspension mount mod which they could do in 2 weeks (first time a courtesy car would be available).

Got collected from work to get my car, had a quick walk round before leaving the garage to check everything was in order.

While changing the drivers side tyre some numpty had taken 2 large chunks of paint and lacquer of the middle ring of the wheel.

I lost the plot!! Not only have I been back to the garage 5 times in 6 months ( I know thats Renaults build quality, but hey), they cant even change a f*?@ing tyre properly. Its not the fact that they damaged the wheel, its just that they didnt tell me. No doubt they hoped I wouldnt notice.

So now its not only going back to have a suspension mount mod but also some work carried out on the wheel!!

Im starting to get a bit fed up, although i still love the cup, its just such a shame the product and support isnt up to standard.

to be honest i feel the same, if it wasnt for the car being so good id have bought a new car ages ago. The delears let you down so bad its unreal, I went to Audi with my mate, even though he never bought the car in the end he was treated like royalty, no matter how much or little a car costs theres no excuse for rudeness, i seem to get it at Renault all the time.

Agree paddymph, am looking forward to getting an S3 in a couple of years, just gotta put up with the constant battles to get the car fixed properly, in the mean time.

eza cup, my car has also been in numerous occasions to sort out the knocking noise on hard steering, they have done the Suspension mount mod and this has made no difference, they then told me that it was the anti roll bar knocking so say fixed this, what do you know no different, it is going in again next week as they have come up with the idea of the problem being the heat shield, they say if they do this and the problem is still there, there is nothing else they can do, we will wait and see.

As for damaging cars, i have only today noticed that whilst they were carrying out the suspension mod, they have used the actual paint to scratch in markings, not only one marking but numerous, its obvious they were done delibrately as they are arrows, it looks absolutely hideous now as they have touch up these markings with the wrong colour touch up pen (they shouldnt have to be touched up in the first place), i have never seen such a bodge job, they have also rounded off the two nuts on top of the suspension mount, on both sides.

Just to let you know that you are not the only one, i think it must be all renault dealers. I have very serious thoughts of never buying another Renault, and if i didnt like mine so much i would have got rid of it by now, i think i might just ask them for a new car.

Anyone got any ideas of how to deal with this situation i seem to be getting nowhere.

I got mine from Kettering I managed to get some stickers hassle free but im not looking forward to having any work done there. Camden Northampton are worse.

Girl at work had here suspension done on a recall and they finally gave her car back it was making metal on metal noises when she went over a bump. You dont expect your car to come back more broken than when they picked it up!!!

Same story from Camden MK. Ive had the 172 for 6 months theyve had it for 6 weeks of that. Combination of bad build quality and clueless monkey mechanics. During that time theyve damaged the dash, put a dent in the bonnet, and I reckon when they replaced 3rd 4th and 5th gear the first time they damaged the clutch as its just came out after having a new clutch, 3rd gear again and clutch cable. Still needs to go back though as theyve had the seat cover off so many times to replace the cushion and seat rattles a that its stretched the leather so needs a new one. Car in general is running better than ever though.

End of the day avoid Camden at all costs if you can of course. Even Evo magazine has slated Northampton Camden several times but things havent improved.

I was told that apparantly that recall on front right suspension is for all 172s and theyre starting with the older ones first and working to the newer ones.

dont accept work done on a wheel, get a new one. Some tit scratched mine when it was in for tyres and they wanted to refurbish it. No danger I said - slap a new wheel on. And they did.
