Had my cup for 8 months now, and i do drive it hard!!
I let it warm up, use good fuel and regular oild change (good quality)

Its getting on now, 38k,
Should i start slowing down now...?!?!

Who else rags there cup?!!?

engine sounds OK, seems more powerful than its ever been.

People who race cups, what sort of problems to they get?!?
Replaced top/bottem ends etc...!?!?

Many thanks

lol you thinking 38K is high miles? Mines on 54K and it's getting better and better.

Marks is serviced more regularly than normal I believe.

Around 40k is when there supposed to start to fly anyhow. I'm nearly on 41k and it gets a good workout regularly. Loves it

  172 Cup SOLD
i've got a 52 plate cup, just had a cambelt change on 60k and it run's as good as the day i bought it (about 16k ago) if not better, i'm not slowing down in it!

Do they design the Cups to be driven hard?!?!
TBH i love it!! and i love the power!! i cant resist myself!!!

hahahahaha

if an engine revs above 500rpm for 750hours it'll blow up!!

LMAO

38K is only just run in, the engine will do 100K no problem! t**t it off the limiter all day long

Yeah, I figured someone would like that one.. My other thought was that Renault installs a chip into each car, and you're allowed to hit the limiter 213 times before the chip cuts the power down to 50bhp and puts the Service light on. (Extra limiter hits are charged at £4.99 per 10)

How many times do people hit the limiter and if so is that gonna do any harm??? Provided the engine warms up etc?

there's some truth in there somewhere

I hit it very rarely - only done it 2 or 3 times. The power drops off before you reach the limiter so theres not much point IMO. (Except it can be argued that you'll drop into the next gear at higher revs, hence nearer 5k power zone.)

Won't do any harm every now and again if the engines warmed up. Would'nt advise doing it constantly mind.

Wouldn't suprise me in all fairness.

There were thousands of rumours going round a few years ago when BMW introduced SMG and launch control to the M3 that using launch control so many times would cause a flag to appear on the ECU invalidating any warranty claims for drive-trains, clutches or gearboxes if you took it to a BMW stealer.

But as I said, rumours.. All rumours:quiet:

It's all about the servicing mate.

My RSi 16v pulls like a train at 82k and gets 350mls to a tank and is fully stamped up in the service book, trust me yours will get better with age too.

I gotta say tho; ragging any engine from new will prob do more damage than ragging a higher mileage one thats done all it's running in already.
A new engine is 'tight' so you'll get more wear if you rag it, (which is why the manufacturer asks you to limit your revving / load in the first few thousand miles)
I've seen some Jags and Pugs go on for 500k miles so any engine will live well past 200k if it's serviced / oil changed regular like yours.

my old ph1 was on nearly 80k and it got a ragging everyday!...no problems at all! was quick as fook too

my 182's only on 25k...needs a good running in yet. ;)

77k on mine as said, is treated with respect day to day, but come track time it takes a right beating. Always had and always will until the end of its life.

Decent power figures now at 77k too as the Surrey Rolling road proved on Saturday :D

The only thing I've done is half the service interval and have it lovingly caressed by Mike @ Rentech every 6,000 miles from new.
