Light weight / extreme CUP French racing blue no stripes. How many?

How many of you Clio enthusiasts have the 182 French racing blue (without the white stripes) lightweight model? That is:
*no climate control
*none Xenon lights
*material seats
*grey carpet (instead of usual black carpet)
*material door cards
*lighter parcel shelf
*steering wheel (without the grips)
*no engine cover
*no auto lights/window wipers

My fiancé would like to know as she has this model and wants to know how many are about

Yeah on Renault Sport website it says 73 she's interested in how many are actually left

Was the 182 cup actually any lighter than a 182?

It seems that from that list, it was more of a way of selling them cheaper because they came with crap seats and poverty spec.

Still had aircon/ABS.

It was the lightest one they made, yes it may have been a tad cheaper but it was also a tad quicker. She beats my LY off the line, the CUP is better suspension and breaks, this has them and more has been shaved off it

So a 172 cup with twin exhausts and RB? Didn't know they did these. Nice

1. I'm not disputing that. I was just asking by how much. As in, was it worth it? If it was, say, 16kg's lighter, is that really worthwhile?
2. Quicker?! No way. These engines are massively different from car to car. Its got nothing to do with lightweight of the cup.
3. Your bird is clearly a better driver than you.
4. The 'cup' pack was available on all standard 182's as an option. Brakes are identical.
5. I still don't understand whats been shaved off it? Granted its not got rear headrests or a split fold rear seat, but its still got Aircon, its still got ABS, its not got thinner glass like the 172 cup had and the fact its got grey carpet and not black really makes no difference.

I'm not trying to be a dick, i'm just pointing out that the cups aren't as hardcore as you seem to think.

No, just a 182 cup.

Got agree with Daniel, if she's beating you off the line it's because she's better at launching than you, not because she's driving a Cup seeing as there's sod all difference between them speed wise.

All she wants to know is how many there are left, I'm not saying hers is the best, she loves it and bought it with her inheritance from her nan so it has a lot of sentimental value, all she wants to know is who has one so she can trade ideas with them. Come on people we all love our cars and all agree Clio sports are fantastic little cars so can't we just leave the slating and find out who has one.

Things like who has upgraded the steering wheel if anyone, how to change the material in the door cards to J45 things like that plus she generally just wants to know who has one as well as we haven't ever seen another one on the road.

IIRC the 182 Cup was 20Kgs lighter than 182 standard....172 Cup was 89Kgs lighter than 172 standard...the difference between the 172 Cup and 172 standard was v.little...so doubt 20Kgs is gonna make too much difference.

I disagree about 89kg not being a lot, my 182 is noticeably heavier with a passenger in, so cup must be great.

89Kg difference is a lot (roughly 10% rounded up ;)). It might not be noticable in a straight line, but on a track the brake points, and turn in will be noticable

Sorry to break it to you, but the 182 Cup wasn't the lightest, most focussed model they made.

They were only ~15kg lighter than the standard model. They were cheaper because of the lack of standard equipment, much like the 200 Cup is today.

The Suspension is no different to a normal 182 with the Cup chassis, neither are the brakes. It's not really special; rather a cheaper version of the regular 182.

You could also get both 182 and 182 Cup in J45 Racing Blue with, or indeed without stripes. (mine was a normal 182 with the Cup chassis and spoiler packs)

If you want a proper version of the Mk2 Clio, then a 172 Cup is what you're after. Lighter by almost 100kgs, no A/C or ABS.

You still got the Renaultsport steering wheel though. The 182 Cup has the poverty item from the lower model.

IMO, the 182 Cup was just a cheaper 182. The 172 Cup was the real deal.

So 20 is now 15 and 89 is 100? Lol nicely manipulated numbers

But yeah, it's a cheaper 182, which was no bad thing.

FYI the Cup steering wheels better. It was still 'leather' and has the cruise buttons etc. it was missing the silver trim, and the frankly laughable rubber grips. It was also smaller than the Renaultsport item. Although both are still massive, and both melt.

Also, half of the toys in the FF were either crap or stopped working after a year. They were hardly a Maybach, as most delusional owners on here would have one believe.

I have one, have a look in my project thread if you want ideas. Although as everyone else has said, cup model or not most of the ideas for modifying are the same.

Nah, dk's favourite Extreme mode.

I've ordered one on mine but they have no input on anything. It's just a toy on the 200.

It looks like a children's VTECH computer toy from the mid-90's. No ta.

And it rattles in the dash since it's removable.

  Clio 197 RB
I have a RB 182 cup without stripes. But I have put a 172 half leather interior in mine as the cup seats are gash!
the 182 cup has cruise control and air con.

I'm not so sure about that in general, all of the cars I've seen have been fine. And mine doesn't have a single electrical fault and it's just ticked over 80k at 8 years old. I love my cruise control and climate!
