lights dimming!!

i got the 1.2 16v dynamique, y reg.I have installed some ice, 800w amp etc. and a 1 farad cap.

got in it tonight and as i turn the wheel the lights dim quite a bit, Its pretty funny really. i have heard the original batteries aint all that good.

The lights dont dim with the beats to the music (prob thanks to the cap), I turned the stereo off and drove round for a bit, soon they stopped dimming.

New battery time? get alternator checked? wat do you think

Sounds like you need a backup battery to me or a heavier duty battery, power steering does put some strain on the system and its probably just a little to much for the battery/alternator to handle with the extra load of the ICE.

you need a bigger battery as I think that the power assisted steering on new Rens is electrically assistence hence the dimming.... I forsee problems if you keep driving like that.

Yeah tell me about it, the steering was a little twitchy at first.

there seems like a whopping great space to put a bigger battery in, which is kind of thoughtful of renault, perhaps they had planned to put a bigger one in their in the first place!!

Best sort this out sharpish i think.

the power steering on the new clios (mk2s) is electric on all but the 172/cup models which are hydraulic IIRC

I thought it was the alternator that powers the electrics when the car is running??

get the biggest fooking battery you can fit in the tray if that dont work uprate the alternator
