Little advice on brakes please

  S2 106 GTI
cars coming back on the road nxt sat, and I am looking at getting some new disc's and pads.

I don't want to spend £££££'s on a full set up (that will be later on ;) ) just a decent set of dics and pads to go with, I think I have a set of OE rear pads in garage so will be ok for rear pads.....
Just need pointing in direction to buy :)

well with the rears you need the bearings too don't you? had a quick look on k-tec, gd etc... and there around £140+. so say its going to be 150ish for the back, the front ???? prices vary on what you go for..... I won't be doing many track days more fast road driving.

how bad are your rear discs then? the rears dont actually do much braking so you could probably get away with just changing the pads. standard Reanault pads will be fine for the rears.

as for the fronts - i've just ordered Brembo HC discs, Ferodo DS2500 pads, braided lines and replacement fluid. get them fitted next Wednesday (if the parts turn up in time from Yozza!)

i intend to put standard on the back of mine and brembo HC discs with mintex 1144 or pagid blues on the front.

best bet is brembo HC discs, some ds2500 pads or like it, braded lines are good but if your not going on track it might not be worth the extra money ???

discs, pads and bleed the system will be good, for the rears just get standard, i got some ds2500 pads for the rear but everyones been telling me i should of just got standard.

If u need some rear disc's look for your nearest eurocar parts. they do rear discs with bearings and abs rings all built up for 78 quid the pair! They are not listed on their website you will have to ring them or pop in.

For fronts Gsf stock brembo disc's if u have a branch near u.

Deffo bleed the brakes. ive done 3 clio's recently and when bleeding the first 4 pedal presses are just air and shitty fluid. imporves pedal feel hugely

GSF are good for parts, they seam to have upped the prices tho, i got rear discs for £131 there about £151 now and the brembo max for £90 ish again i think they have gone up in price.

Having spoken to a bloke at Donny whilst watching an trackday, i was recommended these.......

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=+200165469407&fvi=1

He said he tracked his car regularly and had no probs with them. They can be purchased separately and they will fit bearings to rears for extra £25 iirc.....they are based in Chesterfield.
I will be replacing my rears and fitting with greenstuff pads as I already have Tarox G88 with greenstuff on the front.

the rears are scored a tad, would do for the time being but was just going to get the front and rears all at the same time.

its just the fronts I would like better discs and pads

whats the difference between the brembo max and the HC???

Yeah i've got them on mine, they are total bollox. they are cheap replacement discs with grooves machined in them. i think ive done about 6000 miles and the grooves have gone already. pads are hardly touched. the car stopped better on worn out oe discs! DO NOT BUY THESE

Ah, forgot yours didnt have abs. You could get some pattern discs and bearings for around 50 quid, then get the bearings pressed in.
