Hi Gang,

Woke up this morning to find my Drivers Side wing mirror smashed along with every other car down my street!!!! Great start to the day....the back of the casing is scratched badly and the mirror part itself is shattered. Does anyone know a good "cheap" place I can get just the mirror part from?? Finances are a bit tight at the moment so the casing will just have to wait....its a black Mk2 172 by the way...any help would be appreciated.

morbius you can get yourself a lightweight "racing" mirror similar to those fitted to the super1600 clios. its minimalist, very thin stalk (no power adjustment) and would look good on a black/silver clio.

I think the mirrors are quite expensive arent they (due to them being heated) ?

u can get mirror glass from halfords if thats ne good to ya if not looks like renault!

I payed £16 from Renault, mines a normal clio though.

Thanks for your replies.....Ive had a look on the net and e-mailed a few Renault breakers yards but no luck yet....looks like its going to be Renault!!! Bloody Sodding F***ing Kids......

well annoying! someone near me went down the street and ripped the door handles off all the cars, including mine! that was pretty annoying! good luck getting it replaced, have you tried searching scrapies?

The problem is that they are colour coded Door Mirrors, so I cant just use a normal "Black" Clio housing it has to be from a Mk2 Pearlescent Black 172, which seriously reduces my chances of getting one from a scrappie...Ive had two get back to me offering Silver ones but no black!! I may end up having to get a silver one and getting it sprayed......if I could only get my hands on the little bleeders....Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

some little w**kers round mine decided it was funny to snap aerials off

after going thru 3 id had enough and a few questions round the local shops where kids hang out had me the whereabouts of the kids who was doing it (note if there reluctant to tell a swift kick in the knackers usually works wonders)

a fukin good pasting later for all of em made sure my aerial stayed intact from then on

so fuk if they were a couple of yrs younger an smaller than me if there big enough to snap my aerial off there big enough for a good pasting

Morbius, most of the clios have the same wing mirror as all of my clios have had electric heated mirrors the same so it doesnt have to be off a 172. It can be off a black dynamique/extreme or any clio after June 2001 with an electric mirror, the benefit of black being that it comes in other models that the 172. Try Specialist Renault breakers in Accrington, Lancs, their telephone number is in the directory/links on the homepage.

cat171 - i agree with you. Its down to the parents. Im always seein kids roaming the streets, fag in hand etc up to no good. They need something to do. I was into modding bikes before i got into cars, why cant they just do that? They have some good policies in Arab countries where they do remove your hand if youre a thief. If they employed that in this country i think the crime rate would be conciderably reduced.
