Logie's Poverty Spec PH1

  Clio Mk2 Phase 1
Got it at a good price. It's a 1.2 8V so it's pretty pathetic. My main aim is to have it looking good enough for around a year or 2 just to bring down insurance so I can get a nicer car.

Current Mods
- Ph2 Rear Lights w/ Silvatec Bulbs
- Osram Night Breakers Plus
- Dynamique Spoiler
- Clear Side Repeaters w/ Silvatec Bulbs
- Flatblade Wipers
- Touch up the paint work

Planned Mods
- Dual Optic headlights w/ a HID kit
- Lowered a few MM (Not sure on the amount yet. Anyone got thoughts?)
- Colour Code
- I.C.E
- New Alloys
- ?

Now, on to the pathetic pictures.

NOTE : Yes it needs cleaned, yes it is more than likely a pile of dung, yes it is horrible as of now but I'm gonna make it nicer. So don't be hating :rasp:.

Comments on what to do welcome.

looks nice :) going the right way about the modifications, looks better now than when you first had it, colour code the rest and lower it on F1s and it will look spot on.

  Clio Mk2 Phase 1
Well thats the plan yeah. Gonna colour code it (will send bits of to SprayShack. Supporting CS traders ftw.) soon now, not sure on the lowering amount though. I've heard 60mm is needed at least on a 1.2 but then again I just want a nice stance. Gotta research.

AS for alloys, looking for a set reasonably cheap. Don't wanna spend too much on the car as I won't have it too long!

Cheers for the feedback.

  Bora.
coilovers, means you can choose your drop
and as for alloys standard 172 alloys come up around £200 sometimes with okish tyres.

  Clio Mk2 Phase 1
Not sure which would look better on the Ph1 between 172 alloys of a set of F1s.

The cheapy coilovers (Raceland) I wanted are only 58mm spacing and from searching I found a Ph1 1.2 8V is 56mm so I may aswell save my money and get some springs just!

  Bora.
do a search and see :p plenty on this site for a look at, and never realised it was an 8v suppose springs is the best option if you dont want to convert your hubs.

  Clio Mk2 Phase 1
I think F1s may look better, then again I'm not picky aslong as they're nice than what is currently and they don't look chavy (i.e. these http://www.stsmotorsport.co.uk/images/specialoffers/large/2_4.jpg) then I'm happy enough.

Also trying to find a nice little 'note' from the car. Nothing too loud and ridiculous just a nice little note from it. Ideas?

Noticeable but not like the god almighty sound that comes from 99.9% of the cars around my way. They all sound like 1,000,000 kids blowing raspberries at once and then that sound is taken and emitted from a circa 96 corsa 1ltr with Type R badges and cut springs in it. Oh and always HID lights in them. :/

95% sure I actually seen this car one day about a week ago somewhere, and was "going to" put a flyer on it

  Clio Mk2 Phase 1
Hmm pretty doubtful mate :p!

Btw, know anywhere where I could get a spray done? Gonna send a few things to spray shack but the front / rear bumper are too big and and effort to send. Anywhere good and cheap?

Sorry about late reply mate - I've always used Lesley Mc Cammon on the other side of Dungannon for my bodywork (the car before you start thinking of cracking jokes) ;)

Very good work, perfect match etc :)

  Clio Mk2 Phase 1
Ah great, GF lives close enough to Dungannon anyways so will go a drive up some day and price work. Cheap enough? Just looking for the front and back plastics sprayed and maybe the sides if he can give me a good enough price.

Also any ideas on an exhaust? No point in getting a whole dear system as it's a crap 1.2 8V, just want a nice note from it.

  Clio Mk2 Phase 1
Just found out that there is a large part of the passenger side that has suffered lacquer loss. Looks sh*t and very patchy now. No option to fix it is there?

  Grande 1.2
I like it... its the exact same as mine! haha

what i dont like is you calling it pathetic!!

yeah stick to your list mate, and it will look killer!

Good thing about these is there not far away from looking like the 172 sport (except the front bumper), once its been colour coded etc.

  Clio Mk2 Phase 1
Yeah true but I've got that lacquer peel problem now, it looks like my car has f*cking eczema :(.

Will get a few more mods by September I think, grabbing a set of alloys from Tigger possibly (OZ Racing style. Kinda like Ph1 172 but a tad different).

I would spray the handles and bullets but I know I'd feck it up so I won't bother.

  Grande 1.2
the peel problem is going to have to be sorted by a proffesional, but tbh i think it would be cheaper buying a new door!! haha

And its easy to spray the bullets etc. but if your unhappy doing so, maybe find a mate that can help or something. getting it done proffesionally is waayyyy expensive, your talking like £60 for a side strip!! if i remember rightly. i think its only worth doing proffesionally if its like an expensive 182 etc.

  Clio Mk2 Phase 1
The peel is over more than just the door. It's only one side and it looks as if it has happened on purpose, not by what would be deemed as natural causes.

I looked at the guide for spraying and I wanted to do it but I would seriously bollox it up. I'd try doing the bullets, strips and door handles.

  Clio Mk2 Phase 1
Just got my Dual Optics fitted. Small upgrade but looks good.

I know the bumper is awful, number plates are fecked etc but I'll get all that sorted. Glad to have these in.

Been quoted 250quid to get a full respray of the passenger side done. Previous owners has had some form of acid / fluid throwen up against it and now the lacquer has come off and some slight bubbling.

I think the guy said he would sand the lot down, prime, etc.. for around 250quid. Good deal?

  Clio Mk2 Phase 1
Was pretty chuffed with the price tbh. Will just get around to it. Quite a few mods planned soon. HIDs, lowered, remove mud flaps, new wipers, color code some bits and pieces, alloys then I'll be happy.

  clio 5door sport rep
looks tidy.... u lowered this yet? lowering and some colour coding on the strips would make a big differeance,

get the callipers painted aswell

  Clio Mk2 Phase 1
That's on the plans mate.

Repsray the passenger side
Colour code
Lower
Alloys

Just waiting on some alloys to pop up.. hint hint ;)

  Clio Mk2 Phase 1
Alloys fitted.

Taking it to the mechanic on Wednesday to get sorted for MOT.

Lowered next, colour coded bits and the complete respray of passenger side.

defs needs lows mate!! but its looking pretty tidy so far!!

also, 1.2 8v's are normally 52mm bolt spacing, and sometimes 58mm (never heard of them being 56mm)

keep your eyes peeled for a set of the racelands in either of those two sizes because you can simply change the hubs over from the 52mm to the 58mm.
if you buy 60mm springs, youll be happy for a month then start looking for coilovers because it wont be low enough!! if you want stance, buy coilies!! ;)

  Clio Mk2 Phase 1
Feck I was hoping that a 40mm drop would be enough :/ Don't really wanna spend too much on this car as I'll probably be selling it soon then buying a dci.

So you reckon 40mm won't be a decent drop?

imo, you wont even notice a 40mm drop!! will look pretty standard!
if youre selling the car, i wouldnt bother, just leave it as it is as modded cars isnt worth the money unless youre going to keep it!!
either way, if you buy hubs and coilies, you could just take them off when you sell them, and put them on your DCI!! ;)

  Clio Mk2 Phase 1
Balls lol I really thought 40mm would be a good enough drop. Feck!

First thing is first, MOT at the end of the month and then I'll see what I'll do.

Cheers for the input though!
