Looking at 182 to buy

  Clio 182
The 182 I'm looking at buying was taken in for a check at the AA equivalent here in Luxembourg - and they discovered a lot of oil over the engine and in the under tray. Renault garage where the car was serviced says it comes from the rocker cover gasket replacement they performed 1 month ago just before the warranty ran out (2004 with 50.000kms).

I can see from threads here that rocker cover gasket replacement and cam belt done at the same time is a common fix. Would they have left all this oil around though, or is this disguising a new problem - oil was over steering pump as well - do power steering pumps have oil in them or just red power steering fluid??

Engine was cleaned yesterday and current owner told to drive around for the day. Having a look again tomorrow.

Any thoughts.... Don't want to buy a duffer obviously ;-)

Cheers. Gareth

PAS pumps just have PAS fluid.

They might not chnage the belt get a garantee they ahve but they should have cleaned the bay before fitting a new belt after lla what the point chnaging ig you don't clean.

So oil over the PAS pump probably from the rocker cover gasket work...

Shocked if they left oil everywhere after the work! Will see what it looks like tomorrow...

I woulnd't buy it if the garage didn't do a decinet job chaging the gasget. There more than one for sale.
