loss of remap during renault service?

  a thirsty one
Hi,

I was considering a remap from one of the usual suspects but i was concerned that sometimes main dealers reflash the ecu.

I know it says they check it for fault codes during a service but if your ecu warning light came on and the problem was then fixed could they possibley re flash the ecu resulting in the car reverting back to its std renault map?

I know some people will say "simple, dont goto reanult and use a specialist for servicing that way it wont happen" but im curious.

thanks

It can happen, only if they re-programme the Injection Computer, which they are very unlikely todo without you sending the car there for a problem with the car, not say a service.

They just read the faults on a service aswell, and erase/correct them if need be.

I had an rsport ecu on and I did loose a bit of performance but didn't really notice till I went on the dragstrip....ages later I went to Pmurray @ RS tuning (Paul) and when he looked at the rsport (or at least mine) it was almost identical to the std but with a higher limiter! So at some point they must have done something to it because the difference the Rsport made originally was massive

i know from previous dealings that peugeot love to re flash ecu's after software updates etc few mates have lost remaps/superchips after taking the car to dealer for a big 72k service or diagnostic fault and got the car back felt the diff and had it checked out by garage who confirm car now on std map. i just wasnt sure if renault were the same, think i may wait until warranty expired. do the big companies save your map on hard disc so heaven forbid a dealer flashes ecu and your group N map was deleted they could upload it at a reduced cost second time round?

Happened to me. Still don't know to this day if or how much was overwritten.

Whoever remaps your ECU should keep the map they put in it and redo it at reasonable cost. After all you've already paid for their map. You're just asking them to put it back in again.

Happened to me too. The only reason i noticed was that i thought it was faster and the rev limit went down. Yep, i thought it was faster or drove differently but in a better way. I had an early superchip then.... no loss.
