Loud 'Booming' Noise!

  Ph-Sold!
I get a pretty loud rumbling/booming sound inside the car at certain speeds e.g. 40 and 80mph which sounds like a really gone exhaust but it doesn't get any louder or quieter with revs or acceleration.

Definately coming from the rear of the car, and it can get loud enough that the driver and passenger have to really raise their voices.

What's up with it?

wheel bearing? Mishaped tyre?

Jack up one side of the rear and spin the wheel, should be pretty silent with no play. Also the tyre should be uniform. Repeat with the other side.

Loudest in a straight line, will jack it up at weekend and see if it's definately the bearing.

How much are these to replace?
