Love 172 CUP but 182 perhaps better bet

  Black 182 + Recaros

Seen a 172 CUP for sale, 10,599, 53 Reg, 4000 miles. Like the uniqueness of these motors. Was thinking of getting one and putting H+Rs on it.

Would I be better off going straight for a 182 + CUP instead, without the uniqueness.

Depends on how important the toys are to you really - dont think either will hold their money tbh (I was offered £10k for my 182 yesterday as a trade in!)

you can buy a 182 on autotrader for that money ??, i just got a 182 after having a cup and im well pleased with the change

Only seen 172 CUP in my area. He lives 5 houses down the road. Cant remember seeing any others.

From a price/value/better car, point of view, the 182 makes more sense. Will still cost me more though. And adding the H+Rs will be more difficult financially.

Matt ATR - 10000 trade in. That seems low. How old is it and whats the mileage. Is this a standard 182 (no CUP) ? What you thinking of getting ?

Have you not already got a 172?

Why bother!!??! Theres hard any difference on day to day driving and the 172 is full of all the nice bits.

I always wish I have got a 172 instead of my Cup even though the mondial is great and the wheels are lovely. Thats just my thoughts..maybe Im getting old.

Id quite happierly swap my Cup for a similar value 172.

As they say "the grass always seems greener". You want what ive got and I want what youve got. Were a difficult lot to please. :)

True. I was infact offered a pre reg 172. I either wanted black or red on a 172 and it was silver. I preffered Mondial blue.

Why do you want a Cup instead of a 172?

If I could afford it Id part ex for a brand new 182 tomorrow! Sat in a pre reg black gold one in Master Renault the other. So nice!

I think its the Mondial blue and wheels I like the most. Plus the Cup title. My silver looks good, but Ive had 2 silvers and starting to get bored.

I was thinking of the black 182, but I dont think its very distinctive. They always look grey (dirty) and dont stand out very much.

Id go for the Arctic blue 182. Looks very close to the Mondial blue. Might even put my OZ SuperLag wheels on it. They look similar to the Cup wheels.

Go for a 182 if you can. Its a bit more refined than the 172 - got more bits on it. If you dont want the extras - just a track car, then maybe the 172 cup is better for you.

I thought it was low too - UK car, both Cup packs and just me as owner (8k miles and mint!) same trade-in value from Motorpoint (!) and local Subaru garage against an STi. They werent budging on STi price either so it would mean an extra £11k!

Was thinking of it, but after realising the 182s cost me over £500 a month in depreciation think Ill stick with it a bit longer!!

Sometimes its best to stay put. Ive always stood my ground when getting part exchange values on my 172. They always come in with sh*t prices, but eventually offer higher than book price, because they know its a good car and will sell dead easy.

My Renault dealer said they hide any 172/182s they get to prevent their sister companies from grabbing them. That says it all really.
