Lowering Mrk 1 (sorry)

  Renault Clio Mrk1
hello,

sorry if this question is being asked repeatedly but i am new user to this as just bought my clio mrk1. i am looking at lowering i understand springs at front and may have problems after 12 months but do not understand how to adjust torsion bar to drop the clio. Any help will be much appreciated as i am new to cars and clios. Thanks all. :)

Yes, 2 springs at front and torsion bar at the rear...theres a guide somewhere on here on how to adjust it.

Problems after 12 months - why do you say that? There shouldn't be...

yeah mate, i bought springs first time round, and about 6 months later my original shocks had blown, so went for the uprated ones to match my springs..

think the reason for this is because they are mismatched.

It depends really.

On a mk1 non-16v, -35mm springs and standard shocks will last as long as OE springs...lower than that and yes, the standard shocks will go. With 16v shocks you can fit any spring and they'll be fine...

thats great!! thankyou very much i am going to try and tackle this at the weekend will tell you how i got on and show you some pictures. also just heard that springs seem to go through more stress and that it is better just to buy whole shocks.

Is there a way to measure how far you are lowering the car by whilst adjusting the torsion bar or is it just guess work?

measure it from the disc to the hub before pulling the bars out, then when jacking it up measure agian from disc to hub to see the diffence, i did my valver today,
