Lowering my 97 mk 1, how much???

hello, ive got a 97 mk1 clio 1.4 rt, i want to lower it with a aset of 15" Fox Evo 3 wheels, How much can i lower it by without it rubbing on the arches, i was going to do it by 40mm. Also, does it have a torsion bar and the back? if it does how do i lower the back? Thanks

yes it has a torsion bar, plenty of guides on the net for how to do it. As for how low, you could go 100mm on 15s without rubbing iirc. Personally for looks, i'd get 16s and lower 60mm on springs and shocks

i got a 97 phase 3 on 15's. runnin 195/50 rubber. dropped 80 mil at the back, on 55 mil springs standard shocks. bumpy ride but no scrubbage unless i hit speedhumps too hard then i get scrapage from exhaust aswell. so take it easy n itll be fine!

ide recommend the 195/50's aswell over 45's. 1 cause theyre cheaper 2 cause they fill the arches better n 3 they absorb more s**t from the road so its a less bumpy ride

i like the look sof low profiles better though, i've been thinking about gettint 16's will i have to role the arches? Im going to order some Fox Evo 3's in silver when i get paid Thansk alot for your help

ok ive decided to go for the 15" wheels, and theres some springs at work i can get for 38 quid (the are 35mm.) how far does the back want to be lowered? also, will this be enough? Thanks alot.

tbh, on 15's, i really would drop it 55 mil, on 35mil springs it will look like a 4x4. for an extra 20 quid you can get brand new pi's from k-tec. as for torsion bar, 1 spline is around 30-35 mil, 2 splines is 55-60 mil, 3 splines 80 mil or so
