lowering springs or coilovers?

  clio 172 cup, aprilia rsv
looking at possibly doing something to lower my 172 cup soon but was wandering if its worth all the money to get a set of coilovers of would lowering springs do the job just as good? i dont want the car rediculously low and i know there are advantages of coilies, but was looking at p.i springs, 15mm back and 25mm front? wot u guys reckon?

P.I spring will give you too much rake. Try to get springs that are the same front and back. I.d go with springs first.

read in to it properly, a good setup with springs and matching dampers is better handling/performance than a set of coilovers :)

if its just for road get some springs. With that drop the dampers will be fine, so handling won't be compromised. Not sure what those springs are like though.

Coilovers were not desiged so one can slam their ride the whole point of coilovers, is that the spring has longer travel meaning you can have longer more progressive springs. It just so happens that they have the bonus of being fully adjustable Also the spring rate is matched to the uprated damper. Most problems occur with coilovers when they are wound right down so the travel distance is reduced so they are basically running on the bump stops

Short springs on the other hand are just the oppersite When a spring is shortened it REDUCES the travel and is less progressive making them bouncey & harsh Also when just fitting shorter springs to the original struts they will outperform the damper on strut making the front end occilate like a washing machine. Another point worth mentioning is that if the lowered springs are a loose fit in the spring pan then this is an MOT failure.
