Lowering

  Clio Dynamique 1.2 16V
I've got an 04 reg Clio Dynamique 1.2 which came with 15'' alloys. I want to put some larger alloys on it. I'm thinking 17''.

Does anyone know how much the car needs to be lowered by, if my arches would need rolling, etc? Any ideas on approx cost?

I rang Renault themselves and they had no idea and i havent found anywhere near me that does it yet.

Thanks.

don't get 17's mate, go for some nice 16's and the car will look so much better.

lower it 60mm and then put some 16s on.

where abouts are you based, might be someone near you off here who would put the stuff on for you if you are unsure yourself, cheaper than a garage!

As Pepsi says, go for 16's and lower upto 60mm. Tried 17's on my 1.2 and 172........noooooooooo goood:dapprove:

If you really want 17's mate then thats up to you... don't be put off by people on here :)

Depending on offset of the wheels etc you could lower the car up to 100mm... it has been done and all it required was a bit of grinding on the inside arch!

It would look better lowered on any size alloy. When going to 17's the overall diameter of the wheel is about 1/2" (12.7mm) bigger and possibly more weight. It's not a major issue but some of us are more particular about certain thing than others. If you like something then I would go for it. Some go for looks regardless and some for ultimate performance. There is plenty of advice on here. Some good, some bad and some right and some wrong. If you unsure who to believe then try one of the Tuners on here, even tho some on here will say they are biased, but i'm sure they won't be far from whats best.;)

I had 17's and lowered 45mm on my old 1.2 16v Dynamique. Was ok but not as agile as the original set up. I felt the alloys were at fault, no need for 205/40-17 on a 1.2. They looked too big IMO and many others say so too, but it's upto the individual I believe.

That's just a matter of opinion mate. This debate could go on for ages, and nobody will ever be right or wrong. At the end of the day like you have already said, it is down to what the person wants to do to thier car, so I just say let them tbh.

Im happy with my 205's. Personally IMO think they are great.
