LY Clio V6 - 85k

I absolutely love the look of a v6 Clio, just the right amount of mental, but are they actually any good to drive? And were they rare enough in the first place to command that sort of money already? I'd imagine you could get an R5 Turbo 2 for that sort of cash.
If I won the lottery though, I'd definitely buy it and find out.

I imagine if you are seriously looking at at a Liquid V6 you have much more than 85k to spend to be fair.

Not necessarily. Some people might only ever aspire to own a V6 Clio, so not just collectors they would appeal to. Only recently have they seen a sharp rise is values, it wasn’t that long ago that you couldn’t give one away. Lol
Similarly an Escort Cossie, looks cool but absolutely bloody awful thing to drive, yet now at silly asking prices too.

£85k gets you in a 997 GT3 which is arguably one of the finest driving sports cars ever created, limited numbers, last of the Mezger engined cars and will only continue to climb in value too.

I love a hot Clio as much as anyone, but £85k for one that isn’t fast, doesn’t handle and in a questionable looking frilly dress??

Nice colour though. :)

Would I buy it if I had 85k to spend on a car? God no.

Would I buy it if I was a millionaire and 85k is pocket change? Hell yeah!

It still pains me knowing I completely missed the boat and will never get to own one :(

Hindsight mate - we've all been there.

I wish I'd just put my Evo in a garage on stands and left it for the last eight years or so. I bet I would have doubled what I paid for it now, without even lifting a finger.

Same. I remember vividly chatting to my mate when they were all floating about at around £12k.

“When they get to £6k, we’ll buy one and lock it away for 10 years”

that day never came and they’ve gone up and up year after year. Gutted.

Everything used is only going to continue going up in the short to medium term. The new car shortage isn’t getting resolved anytime soon, at least this year anyway.

Around the time I had mine a mint blue one with reasonable mileage came up for £10.5k still the cheapest ph2 I've seen, my mate at the time had my old MR2 in his garage, I told him dump the MR2 and buy this v6 there's no way you'll lose, did he listen, did he f**k, idiot.

Mine is probably the car i most want back out of everything. Terrible in so many ways but nothing has put a bigger smile on my face.

That said I’d take a GT3 over one being realistic, but would be in my 5 car garage with no doubts.

The only car within reason I would consider swapping mine for is a 1m Coupe.

if I had 85k I’d be looking at 997 GT3 or E46 M3 CSL. Remember looking at them when they were sub 30k thinking I’ll get one when they hit 20k 😭

I’ve had a lot of cars and my V6 was up there in one of the most memorable stakes. They used to get slated on here when I had mine (“mY 182 DoEs 0-60 ThE sAmE”)

Was a total surprise for me as I took it in px for an Evo 6 RSX, a V6 wasn’t ever on the radar but the deal was too good. Loved it and never had a car that has had such good public reaction when I’d pull up somewhere.

Strange the public perception thing, because I'd of thought by now, and probably ever given how niche the V6 is, that most people would just think you're a loser that's spent way too much on a body kit for their 1.2 Clio.

Yep, proper petrol head car but a lot of people seemed to know a bit about them and seem keen for a look. You just don’t see them ever, I’ve only ever seen 2 on the road excluding the one I had.

Hello!

im new here :)

could I ask what value the history of this car adds, given it was a safety car, if any value!

also the same question about the colour, imo it’s the best colour

thanks

I ask because I'm bidding on the one this thread mentions, very strong money granted but the condition is spectacular. Just wondering what value if any the history and colour add

Awesome! Do you have your pic in high resolution at all as it’s a thumbnail when I click on it.
I’ve long been a fan of the V6 the road presence is something else.
I’ll get it re-ppf’d and then use it a little bit around town etc but the idea is it’s a long term forever car to pass down to my kids with the rest.
When they come of age the world will be full of Duracell cars sadly so they will be able to experience these and know a proper one 👍🏻

Also if you check this Vee out that was exported it sold for 74k
number 340

I think trader wise mark up is 15-20% So I think they would have paid anywhere between 65-75.

Hard to barter them down though - they will just say go find another one like this..

Yeah that’s exactly what he said ha ha! He is right too in fairness. I like the history of it and the fact it is factory clean condition. Usable too, if I had the 980 miles one I don’t think I’d ever want it to hit 1000!

The V6 gets so much attention on the road. Every time I’m out in mine I get people asking me about it, taking videos / photos etc.
I think my illiad get more attention now than my acid did back in the day.

Its a tough one but £85k is nothing to someone with a serious car collection or crazy deep pockets.

Personally for me if I had £85k in the bank I would put a cheeky offer in as it was a car the Renault made to showcase what the crazy f**kers could do, The same with a few others of there cars but thankfully this one made the road.
Around that time you never seen the likes of Nissan putting V6s into there bubble micra's or anything else.

As Renault sport has closed its doors and is now a thing of the past rare cars like the V6 are going to be looked at as crazy limited one off's and colour and milage will most likely help with prices only going up.

Its horse for course's, Some people pull there peckers out over JDM Honda's, Some over Porsche's & Fords along with other things so if someone wants to spend £85k on a stunning LY V6 225 Clio then fair play to them.

For me it would be a LY or Acid Yellow V6 all day long IMO

"Is that a real one" "do you know how much that's worth" "I've never seen one in real life before"

Dude, I'm just trying to get a mcmuffin I'm hungover.

Do we think the safety car aspect of its history adds a bit? I like it personally. I’d like to think I could put 2000 miles on it over a few years without harming the future value significantly
