Mac - Applecare

Car  1 Series Coupe
Hi..

How many of you purchased Applecare when you purchased an apple product? I've heard you can buy it up to 12months into the standard 1 year warranty?

Opinions please?

Thanks

Matt

Didn't get it at the time of purchase. Not sure I will either. I would want it to cover acc dam, but it doesn't :(

from what i heard there customer service is pretty hot anyway. IE if anything breaks it just gets replaced.

You can buy it any time during the normal warranty period to extend it.

Apple are generally good.. if they aren't doing something they should do simply complaining once is usually enough for them to do it. :)

I got 3 years free when i bought my Macbook in 2007. Going to upgrade mid 2009 for University :) Havnt had to use the Warranty yet but I have needed a new case/screen for a while but just kept it how it is as i can do without the hassle atm... It needs to be taken to their shop to be 'diagnosed' then again to be 'checked in' and then picked up! Not so easy when its over 2hours away!

Apparently students get great discount on this.

MBP cover is £269, if you are a student it's £60.............

This is what a guy in the shop said...

ebays good for applecare too, bought a few times never a problem and good discounts, usually US sourced which is fine as its all worldwide, dollar change will have hit this a bit tho.

Apple care for a Macbook is £199 from the Apple Store. It's like £140 on dabs which is pretty good..
I'm still in two minds whether to look at Apple Care. Going on my MBP, I had a repair done 3 times, but it was all within the first year. I think for £140 it's probably worth it?

I got 3Yrs hardware warranty free when I bought from Higher Education. The extra £60 was for phone support, but I didn't need it - I just went straight to a local repair centre.
