magnecor leads the same for 172 & 182

I bought a set of magnecor leads a few months back, secondhand off the forum, and finally got round to fitting them today.

Lead 3 is too short by about 2cm. Is this because the leads are different between 172 and 182s? I have got it to fit by running it under the manifold but I think it is being squashed between the engine and manifold which probably isnt good.

The numbers on them are the oposite to standard leads aswell. :S

So one of the leads is too short to run the same path as the others?

Thats a bit s**t!

well from memery standard leads, are longest is No1 (flywheel end) and short one is No4 (cambelt end)

The lead that is too short is no.3 (no.2 on standard leads) it attaches to the second plug in from the cambelt side.

so if it says No 3 the correct hole would be the second from the Cambelt. as that is no 3

Your right. The magnecor lead is no.2 which is plugged into no.3.

well no 4 is plugged in to what should be number 1 on that coil pack so are the leads back to front on the labeling. So which one is the longist no 4 or 1?

They are numbered back to front. No.4 is the long lead on the magnecors. But no.2 (shown in the pic) doesnt reach unless you run it under the manifold.

  lift number 1 @ btm
magnecor make different leads for 172's and 182's. i bought some direct and they were quite definate about it, but i think they said it was the plugs that were different?

no idea then, but the guy i spoke to was pretty definate. but who is to say that he isn't a doughnut though?

all coil packs are the same, all plugs are the same, both distances between the plugs and coil will be the same.

My magnecores are labled differently, my longest lead is No1 not 4....
