Maguiars Clay Kit

  182 Inferno
Hey,

Been thinking about claying my 182 for the first time and have been looking at the Maguiars Clay kit. Has any one used it...?? And wondered what your thoughts are on it..??

Thanks for advice :)

Try Bilt-hamber Auto-clay: http://www.bilthamber.com/autoclay.html

you get more for the money plus you can use water as lube too :)

remember to cut your clay in small pieces as if you drop the lot put it straight in the bin!

Oooo thank you.... and good shout on cutting up the clay... one has a tendancy to be a tad bit clumsy, and would prob drop the lot... lol...!!

Would you advise the soft or medium clay when using Bilt...??

ive only used the normal one, but go for soft if you want to be cautious

although ive not clayed my 172 yet! will do soon though

you get 200g of clay with the BH, can do about 5 cars with it all :)

Flol!

At least use some de-ionised water and mild shampoo but water!

Soft bilt hammer stuff is excellent btw!

Wow, i'd love to see your paintwork under my brinkman..

like i said ive not used it on my clio (not had it long) but have used it on other cars

Bilt-hamber say that this stuff is made for water and using any other lube will reduce its effectiveness.

anyhow the clay itself will draw any contaminants in tap water anyway so no worries there ;)

and to prove i aint talking crap, linkage: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=113686 read onto second page ;)

wash car with shampoo, use tar remover on any tar spots (if you have to), then wash again, then leave it wet and then start to clay, once clayed,., wash again! dry, polish and then wax :)

clay in horizontal directions

yeh you fold it on it self mate, whilst claying keep folding until there is no clean clay left, then throw it mate. if you find th clay is a bit hard, you can drop it in some warm water to soften it a little, makes it a bit easier.

i would cut the clay up into smaller pieces, if you drop a piece on the floor, it may look clean but don't use it! bin it asap, you will do more harm then good.

good luck! post some pics up too :)
