Major problems with Alpine & Stalk Adapter

Ok guys,

I'm having major problems with gettin the stalk adapter to work on my 2000 x reg mk2 phase 1 clio. Ive had three different wiring sets from Halfords, and even went into my own independant car audio shop who have absolutely no idea why its not working.

The stalk adapter is working fine with the standard renault head unit, however with both my Alpine and a JVC which was tested by Halfords are not working with the stalk :(

Here is a pic of what i have:

Picture352.jpg

The far left cable is what im putting one end of into the wiring of my Alpine head unit, and the wiring in the back of the clio. Then the clear looking plug is going into the multistalk adapter box.

The next cable in, the long red plug is going into the red plug at the back of the dash display, and the other end of the cable going into the multistalk adapter box.

The patch lead for the alpine is therefore going into the other end of the multistalk adapter box, and then the 3.5mm jack going into the back of my alpine. Question - what is the orange wire that is also coming out the patch lead for? It has a female bullet on it! Also, if you can see on the far right cable of that pic, i found a small male bullet connector and the wire is exactly the same colour, but i dont remember this coming with the patch lead i bought, it just turned up at the bottom of my box of goodies. Confused! Does the orange female bullet neet to be connected to anything or is it left exposed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as i have baffled an awful lot of people today!

Cheers

well the left hand loom would simply connect between hu and dash wires with male iso going to hu and female end to dash the clear plug would go in one end of the interface module then the lead with 3.5mm jack to back of hu with plug to module leaving a third terminal for the dash loom i see everything there to make it work can only be some problem with the car perhaps best left to renault??

dont think renault would entertain me mate, the standard head unit is working fine with the stalk.

Do i need some other clip? a yellow connector? when i was in halfords the geezer offered me another type and i think i saw an old post with someone saying about a yellow connector needed as there was a yellow and blue plug that came out of the back of the standard head unit.

Thanks for any more help :)

im not sure why it has that extra yellow/orange cable coming off it.........maybe it needs to be connected to a live as thats the kind of cable to looks like to me

ive got stalk controls on my Mk1 and i dont remember having to give the box a live feed

i think that extra yellow wire may be for units without the 3.5mm jack socket??

today i went and bought the other type of cable with the bright yellow connector and guess what - it still didnt work!

This is crazy! Everyone is baffled and no aftermarket head units are working with the stalk adapter! The only one that is, is the standard renault tape player! :(

Any other ideas please?

Doesn't really help with the problem in hand but if you can't get it to work, i've got the car audio direct adapter and it works brilliantly with my 9855r. Easier to install too, just connects to the original yellow iso plug for the display/stalk.

seriously considering taking the autoleads cable back to halfords as its absolutely w**k.

Might get a different cable from online as suggested!

thanks

Autoleads are the biggest name doing stuff like this, there stuff usually works no hassle

they have a tech dept with a few women working in it who know the products inside out, ring them......sod halfords they dont usually know anything
