Matchin amps with speakers/subs

what sort of amp should be used to power 1. speakers and 2. subs?

Say you had a 4*100w (max) amp for speakers, what max power speakers would you want?

Also if you had and 800m (max) power sub and wanted to run 2 10 inch subs, what max power subs would be best?

Its all about RMS figures, forget about MPO figures they mean nothing.

when you match up the rms figures try and make so that the amp will put out more power than the sub is rated at

this way you can turn the amp down and still get full power into the sub

but isnt there a danger of blowin the sub then if the amp is more powerful than the sub??!!

far from it!!! the way people blow subs is by turning the amp up to loud and sending into clipping (dc is no good for speakers)

also putting more strain on your amp which could also go tits up in the process
