max speed onmy clio 230 km/h

hey guys,
yesterday i took my clio and floored the gas for 30 kms. it's a high way road between 2 towns here in qatar. my car has only 7k on the milege. it's the first time i took it on the road. if any body havn't done that yet, then you should. it's an outstanding experience. the strange thing on the it never went above 230 with 5000 or 6000 rpm. is this a normal thing ? or it's just by time the car will go to 250 km/h ???

The last time i tried this my revs maxed out at 6500rpm and an indicated 140mph i couldnt get it any faster although i did have two lads in it with all there gear for a week

230kmh is about 142mph, so as an indicated speed that would be about right I would imagine. Where is it being quoted that you can do 250kmh out of interest?

i dunno. i ghave a friend who has a clio 172. he said that he once reached 250 and the shift indicator started blinking while he his in 5th gear. is that possible ?

i guess your right. wat i'm going to do going 250 km/h ??? it's very dangerous. whenever i go by a big reg i feel like the air is pulling me towards the reg. i just did that to make the engine smoother and faster that's it.

my clio172 also reach about 230km/h once. and my friend who drive his clio 172 ever reach about 238km/h and close to 7000rpm @@"

Mine wouldn't go over 134 according to GPS.

However, the engine puts out just something under 170hp.

He's sort of got a point though, dont you think?

The Clios top end is nothing special. Its not really about 100+ speeds, its all about the speeds you can do in the first 4 gears for me.

I could have bought a Vectra GSI for the same price as a Clio and as one police constable proved, that can do 159 mph. I've driven one and its definitely a lot better after a ton than the Clio. I just wouldnt buy one because I'm not particularly interested in going nearly 160 mph on a British road.
