MEGANE 222BHP TURBO

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf

Evo dropped in my door yesterday and theres an article about the new focus rivaling megane turbo.

It will be on sale by the spring and has 222 bhp,221 lbft of torque,90 percent of which is avaliable from 2000 rpm.

Its front wheeldrive and renault claim it will hit 60 in 6.5 secs and still return 32mpg.It also gets four piston calipers and rolls on 18s.

The electrics are just as good with ESP,traction control and something called understeer control.

To round off renault say it will go on sale at under £20000...

Regards,ian...

Theres an article about it in the Renault Magazine this month. 225 bhp, 300Nm torque. Available in April. Looks mental :D

yeah that engine conversion looks like been on the cards. Not really a fan of meganes and the sport looks almost the same as the other ones. Not Phat enough for my liking.

anyone know if it will be a straight forward transplant into a 172?

ie are the mountings similar will it physically fit?

I do like the look of the megane, some hate it but I like it. I hope after all the publicity the car performs as well as it looks. What do you think, could you forgive the cars looks, if it performs ?

the megane has been growing on me!, but i wouldnt like a rs turbo one for the fear of being pushed off the road!! seems like more people just want the engine than the car!! me included :)

Gona be £19,999 then:D

Probably £19,995 - for some reason they like to end in 5s! ;)

Why? Whats the point ;)when you can get the same performance from clio cup? (65% of the price) and I bet the Megane wont handle as well. OK a bit more room inside but we dont have to sit in the back anyway!

i want that engine in my 172 :devilish:

We (Me and Night.Icon) know someone who is dropping that engine into a williams along with the 6 speed box and as he has very strong links with renault he knows it will drop straight in with no messing with engine mounts.

Are Renault gonna drop that into the clio/172 shell? (Would be silly of them not to)

That would make it faster than the v6.

I wanna pre-order one NOW!

Sorry the complete engine and gearbox is £6K and that is with a special super dooper Renault Discount.

He will probably get it fitted free as well.

i thougt the orange colour in the megane in the renault magazine was gorgeous

the meganes styling is growing on me someone should dare to be different i would if i could but i cant. (would have to take out a mortgage to afford the insurance)

Isnt it more likely the megane engine going to be based on the 2.0lT from the vel satis??

In which case, how similar is that to the 172 lump??

identical except for the lack of vvt (which dont work anyway)

the f4 series engines includes the 172 and the vel satis engines

well if its the same engine why not just change the parts needed to go turbo instead of having to get an entirely new lump
