Megane 225 F1 detail

Megane 225 F1 Team

I was asked through Facebook to enhance a recently acquired Megane 225 in ultra blue. When Shaun came by to give me a look at the car It was clear it was well looked after, very tidy bar swirled paint.

The car was dropped off late on Friday evening and I set to work straight away.

I found a couple of random patches of marring

14835679389_64e29dd1e7_b.jpg

The lacquer on the wing had quite a dull finish

15019348541_7de9042708_b.jpg

The standard spoiler had been removed before drop off to make way for an .R spoiler

14835800668_087e3e2a50_b.jpg

And the swirls

14835787210_df698243fc_b.jpg

There was a few spots of tar dotted around

14835815328_ac5f6f8012_b.jpg

I only had a couple of hours until it went dark so I wasted no time.

The car was rinsed, sprayed with pre wash and left to dwell while I did the wheels with auto finesse imperial, then the car was rinsed again and washed with lather.

Then onto tardis. The whole car was sprayed, left to dwell, agitated then rinsed.

15022432635_7ed22a86fb_b.jpg

I then moved my attention to this mess :(

14835715109_82e38e6180_b.jpg

After a while it persisted at this stage.

14835828478_1ff5ac677b_b.jpg

So out came the kitchen roll! Doused in tardis and left to dwell.

15022084202_5fb158199c_b.jpg

This softened it off enough to get the majority of it off with just a little residue left for the following day. It got too dark so I called it a night.

Day 2 opened with a bit of drizzle. So up went the gazebo and we (the girlfriend was over the moon with helping assemble a gazebo in the rain ) finished just as it started to rain properly.

It was looking much better just after a wash and decontamination

15022445345_fee815595a_b.jpg

Quick rinse, wash and then I finished the bootlid

14835836938_59e21d9e3d_b.jpg

Sprayed with iron x

14835927137_5efa9ea597_b.jpg

There was less than I expected but the colour made it difficult to catch the bleeding

14835841328_3469baede6_b.jpg

15019397391_f2b981cb08_b.jpg

So glad for the gazebo, the heavens opened.

14835944607_2a32217006_b.jpg

15022112962_4e7db73104_b.jpg

Sprayed off and washed again ready for clay.

Got a shock at the bonnet! It could've done with another hit of tardis.

15019410021_4343faffd3_b.jpg

The wing was better, the rest of the car came off a bit like this tbh.

15022117212_330e2d719d_b.jpg

Rinsed and dried ready to be taped

Some more random scratches

14835765609_139f47048b_b.jpg

15019426291_4af634a7ff_b.jpg

Odd marring in places too

14999498476_eda73a5e04_b.jpg

The sun came out just in time for polishing

15022153452_c86d7c62bb_b.jpg

I mainly used auto finesse revitalise #2 as I was aiming to get it all done today, I figured this would add some depth to the finish as well as removing most of the swirls.

14835873130_f6b0967528_b.jpg

15022514435_ed3963f0ec_b.jpg

This was difficult to capture. You can just make out the 50/50 here after a pass with AF #2. It didn't remove it to my liking so I moved to AF #1 then back to #2 to finish

14835885830_4d4f36efdf_b.jpg

15022526835_f1f2d463b7_b.jpg

Then I went on to tackle the rest of the car.

14835898210_1aa06b8aa7_b.jpg

The wing came up brilliantly IMO, almost no orange peel.

14835911500_9aacd02e9a_b.jpg

14835925130_bc317cdd2a_b.jpg

This had some marring which I struggled to capture, it just looks like the reflection is unfocused.

15022212422_c79060350e_b.jpg

14835847719_4faf61e13f_b.jpg

The bootlid came up brilliantly

14999586956_29c1a13dcd_b.jpg

After the polishing was finished I gave the car a going over with auto finesse ultra glaze.

15022240172_f6f40213ba_b.jpg

14835878669_f530f4b328_b.jpg

The wind then picked up so the gazebo came down

14836091517_520acf957e_b.jpg

The car was given a coat or AF spirit.

The glass and plastics were wiped with IPA.

Plastics dressed in AF revive.

Glass done with rain x.
Tyres done with AF satin.

Exhausts with autosol.

Alloys with tough coat.

14835987010_d8af87e2e6_b.jpg

The deeper scratches and RDS' remained but I was happy with the finish given the time I had.

And with the .r spoiler from spray shack fitted

I'm waiting on some more finished photos as I forgot to get any before the car was collected

Cheers.

Good work mate. What DA are you using? And what technique?

To be fair to you the hardest paint i've properly tried to correct was on an F1 Megane. All the Meganes seems similar but the F1 seemed the hardest for some reason.

That little rust bubble doesn't look good, what year is it?

Noticed this on your drive the other day, rep is growing.

Cheers all, @gally i'm using a das6 pro, and technique sorry? I didn't realise there was more than one way to use them lol.

This seems about as hard as my r27, i just figured it was a later model thing as the iceberg 172 I did a while back was brilliant to work on.

@Jay.S 56 I think, it's due to the drains in the door getting blocked, apparently it's common on Meg's. The owner has a new door coming to replace it with. Ah you should've stopped by to say hi.

Starting to get very common now. That one isn't actually that bad!

In regards to technique, I just meant speeds etc. I use a slightly different technique to a lot of people with a DA.
