Megane 225

Whos got one on here?

I know ive only had my clio 3 month, but the megane is really growing on me, plus barkers of preston have a couple in at 16k, and im tempting to go an have a butchers this weekend.

just interested in peoples opinons of em?

Yep I woul;d still have that Clio unless flames started spouting from it! Cant believe that was 6 months ago!!

The Megane has just done 1,500 miles and she is getting better with every single one. The brakes, clutch, tyres have all loostened up nicely and the engine is just simply awesome. It now revs much freer through the range but you honestly dont need to go above 5000 because there is just so much torque! Oh I wish they would put this engine in a Clio!

If I was being perfectly honest and I had £20K in my back pocket I dont think I would buy one (fortunately due to the fire incident I did not have to spend this) because I think that is a bit dear, but at £16K it has be looked at.

and so far no rattles or squeeks to mention - touch wood!

moose, did ya drive any other turbos cars before ya bought, (ie wrx, cupra r)

if so how does it compare?

the only issue i have is havin to run the damn thing in again. could do with a 2nd had one really with a couple of thousand miles on, like mine.

Nah the megane is truely awful as a fast hatch, its suffers from understeer, very odd steering, and a funny shape (imo).



Pls try a second hand RS focus its along the same lines as the clio, with better turnin, grip, handling, and power.

If the Vx gets written off I may go for the RS again as they really hold their value. If not EVO 8 with 260 bhp, as they come with free servcing now plus 1k off list price.

aye them evo 8s are tempting, especially with the free servicing, but thats a helluva lot more money at 24k... think id rather have a 350z.

was just that the 225 is growing on me (and its cheap), and i do slightly miss the kick of a turbo.

nothing against the clio at all, it one of the greatest cars ive ever owned, it just needs that little extra spice!

I personally dont condiser the Megane as a hatch. I have got the five door version as I have a little one now and it is miles bigger than my Clio so dont think you can compare the two.

I heard bad things about the steering but I had a drive in an RS before I got the Megane and there is no competiton. The Megane has less torque steer than my Clio 172 did where as the RS just snakes around all over the place. The Megane obviously feels heavier round corners than a Clio but It is very sure footed your confidence grows every time you take a corner on. I put some Eagle F1 tyres on my Clio because of the tramlining and I though I would have to do the same with this but those big 18" rims just eat up the road.

Unfortunately, did not drive the Evo but this a car I really like and have always fancied.

At the end of the day I did not really choose to change from the Clio but seeing that it ended like this,

I did not really have much choice in the matter and I am very happy with the 225.....so far!!!
