megane help

sorry not a clio fellas but i need help asap. my girlfriends 1.6 16v coupe sport T- Reg is making a horrible noise.

when u turn the ignition on the first click, or start it, theres some kind of pump or motor making a really bad continuous banging noise. it does it for about 5 sec then stops.

its a black box inside the slam panel on the right hand side of the engine bay. anyone know what it is? imagine on a valver, where the immobilizer key thing is, thats a similar place to where the meganes strange box looking thing is.

Have you tried the Parkers forum for Megane 1's - http://forum.parkers.co.uk/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=17194 , there are quite knowledgeable people on there including a few Renault techs, a guy called 'Webcode' springs to mind.

Looking at this page - http://forum.parkers.co.uk/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=8 , i think it is safe to say Renault have more problems than anyone else - lol.

its the air reciculation flap. you need to either disconnect to stop the noise or get it stripped
and repaired properly . worse case will need new motor and box. not to cheap.
