Megane R26
Today I took the opportunity to give me car a decent clean, as I've had it for nearly a week, and have only really hand washed it upto this point.
The main objective for today was to get rid of the tar spots and get some decent protection down. It needs a full correction detail, but I'll wait until the weather is a bit more predictable and we have longer light hours in the day!
The process was as follows:
- Wheels, Tyres and Arches cleaned with Autosmart G101 and Smart Wheels, with a combination of brushes and mitts (this alone took 90 minutes!!)
- Washed with Autosmart Autowash
- Lower half of the car treated to Tardis to remove the majority of the tar spots, prior to claying
- Clayed with AutoGlym Clay Kit (not a bad kit, but a bit pricey from Halfords!)
- Rewashed with Autowash
- Paintwork cleansed with Werkstat Acrylic Prime via a Sonus SFX2 4" pad and my Kestrel DAS6 DA Polisher
- 3 x layers of Werkstat Trigger applied, with 30 minutes between each
- Tyres dressed with Wheelwax Extreme Black Tyre Dressing (my favourite new tyre dressing... if it proves to be durable. Lovely to use and leaves a great finish!)
- Alloys protected with Planet Polish WS&S
- Glass cleaned with Megs Glass Concentrate
- Exhaust polished with AG SRP
Quick question on the Werkstat kit - should I be doing a Glos wipedown between layers of Trigger or not? Also, should I do a final wipedown of Glos at the end? I'm buying the Werkstat Shampoo soon to maintain it too. Love this system.
I can't wait to correct it fully - I have quite a few RDS's and a lot of swirls, so it will be nice to get it looking like new. I also have a couple of stone chips which I will deal with soon.
Cheers,
Russ.
